It's funny how he says the '08 KTM300 will walk all over a GG300 motor then says he's going to smooth it out. Sounds like he's trying to turn it into a GG300 motor. GG could easily make there 300 faster (have you ever ridden a GG250MC with a 300 kit...WOW). I hear to many riders saying they want a bike with more power but in reality most don't use near all of it. It seems like GG tries to make the right kind of power to suit the widest range of conditions were most other brands cater to those that want more useless power. Not many riders seem to care about good power just a lot of it. It's part of the reason why aftermarket does so well, to many people buying exhausts...etc thinking there going that much faster. How many people have you heard over the years talking about more power for there bike? Sex sells, HP sells. I enjoy following those people up something difficult and see them struggling to tame the power or watch them spin wildly around most every turn then at the end of the day look whipped and there in better shape than me.

P.S. I think KTM's are good bikes, I just think there way over hyped.

On the fence

Hi Members.
I own a 05 Ktm 450exc, I've been looking\saving for a 08 300XCW.
I just recently read the DR Mag review of the GG 300 (Eye opening) and now I'm checking out the GG's. My local dealer has a 07 300 EC with sachs rear shock for $7195 and I think that's before it gets Tax and fee's.
So here are my Q's
1. Sachs vs. Ohlins - What's the diff?
2. How's that price sound?
3. Should I be waiting for the 08?
4. If I want to try buy a used GG what's the best year/model to kick it all off with?

Thanks for your time.

Aaron

The Sachs is excellent, as well as the Zoke forks.

The price sounds a little high, is it US or Canadian? Actually sounds like the original '07 list price.

'08s have a slightly softer seat, other very minor changes, but no news on when they will be available.

'07 is best new or used. Other than that, '05 or '06 as the steeper rake frame came in '05. There are some brand new '05s still at dealers for less than 5K. Look around. Another thing is you can add the entire '07 rear section and plastic to the '05/'06 frame.

The price is US $'s, the dealer is in Santa Rosa CA.
Where else would a CA guy try and pick up a 07 at a better price?

I picked Up my 07 EC250 in May for $6320 shipped to my doorstep from Road Track and Trail in Minnesota. I'm in western ND close to the MT border. You should be able to get a better price I'd think.

Thanks spdfrek, I sent them off an email for price request. Any ideas on where to look for a 05 or 06?

You may have trouble finding a new '06 as few where brought in. The '07 is far superior in my opinion.
