Dirt Rider test on-line extra
Check out the DR on-line test extra for the GasGas 300...
http://www.dirtrider.com/features/14...ras/index.html Looking at the endurocross times shows the GasGas does well in the tough riding... http://www.dirtrider.com/features/14.../photo_19.html |
In the DR mag article the GG is listed at 258 lbs with full tank. Alot heavier than I expected.

Most of those guys had already ridden the KTM and are use to it. I wonder what would have happened with a little more seat on the GG??? |
You can see the GasGas in the DR test pictures has aluminum handguards and skidplate, adding about 5 lbs.
It is disappointing to see the GasGas show up with the added weight penalty of an aluminum skid plate and full wrap aluminum hanguards when the others usually arrive without a skid plate and minimal plastic handguards. My '06 EC300 brand new out of the crate with the DS stuff (100 watt coil, headlight, tail light, signals, horn, rear fender extension, odo/speedo) no gas, no trans oil weighed 237 lbs. |
Claimed dry weight FWIW. VERY different from real actual weight I guess. I also assume this is with all the lights and junk because that's the way they're sold every where else in the world and on the GG site pictures.
200 95kg 209.4lbs 250 97kg 213.8lbs 300 98kg 216lbs I believe one of the Aussie reviews of the 250/300 had it listed at 108kg or 238lbs. That would match Erik K's measurment very closely. Still wish it was another 10lbs or more lighter like the KTM. Skidad |
Now that's very interesting. Out of boredom I threw the front wheel on a digital bathroom scale and measured 135lbs, and then threw on the rear wheel and measures 144lbs. Can I sum those values to arrive at a staggering 279lbs?!
My bike is fully wet (IMS 14 litre tank), armoured (skid, pipe, hand, front and rear fins, rads, headlight, front fender), auto-clutch, steering damper on a riser, and an EC stator. Hmmm ... do I need all the armour because I fall? Or do I fall because of all the armour? Dale |
