I like the DE's since they had the lighter 2k-2 flywheel which allows you to tailor the characteristics easily using weights (4 oz., 7 oz, 12 oz). The EC's have a very heavy 2k-3 flywheel. Also, the G2 throttle works very well on the lighter flywheel bikes (this is what I'm using on my current 200). For me, the G2 throttle with 400 cam is enough to control the power during the first 1/4 turn. Beyond that, I want my engine unrestricted and more snappy. The only benefit I see with the 2k-3 flywheel is more wattage for headlights (almost double what the 2k-2 can provide).

There are several Nevada dealers listed on our main page. Being a state away, it may be worth a drive to get a test ride.

I've had two KTM's. an 03 sx450 which I made into a woods bike with the 6 spd exc tranny and an 03 exc200. The 200 was my favorite bike, but I had to put a couple thousand bucks into to it to get it to handle any where near how I wanted.
KTM makes a very well engineered bike, but ,on the trail, where it really counts my 06 gasgas ec300 is miles ahead. I have put some $ into a jet kit and guards and it is by far the easiest bike to ride than any other I've EVER had. Why go through the expense of trying KTM then going to GASGAS anyway!
Just get the GASSER!!!:D

ps I didn't buy my bike to sell it in two years so resale doesn't matter to me

Jimbo,

I agree on the resale thing. My next bike is one I plan to keep for a while, thus, it will be worth $1,500 just like the KTM, eventually. :)

Looks like I'm blessed with proximity. I could take advantage of cheap flights into Las Vegas (my wife will be on-board with that), and I have a niece in Houston and a pal in Austin. Road Trip !!

Late spring, perhaps.

I *do* have "Mike" at HardRock Trials here in Phoenix, but he's trials-only and doesn't appear to want to stock enduros much.

Rick
