That is too funny right there!
SO in other words if you see a GasGas coming your way on the trail give them a wide birth because they cant see or hear you. They might also be a little cranky because of the price of Rogain has gone up and there Viagra subscription has ran out. :D

I am 40. Stopped riding at 23 and got back into it 3 years ago in a 450x, but quickly switched to the GG. Had IT 175/200's and KDX's back in the older days. First bike was a Kawasaki KE50 followed by a Yamaha RZ50. Also do lots of mountain biking here in NZ on an equally awesome Ibis Mojo (Ibis and GG is wives 2 and 3).

God this feels like I am writing to some Dirtbike dating forum or something!

gasser 04-16-2011 03:59 PM

The more I ride the younger I get. It's all just numbers anyway. The friend I ride with most is 70 but he bails on me from time to time so he can go sky diving.

desertgasser300 04-18-2011 07:57 PM

40 yrs. old, started out riding my older sisters Taco mini bike then my dad bought me a 1974 Yamaha GT80 for $75 when I was 10. I remember being really embarrased cause all my friends had the new water cooled RM80. But I ran the piss outta that GT....wish I still had it!

My opinion, a Gas Gas is a gentlemens bike.

forgiven 04-19-2011 12:52 AM

43 and I have been riding since I was 4. Took a long break from 17-35.

Currently own
10 GG 300
01 GG 300
06 YZ250F
07 CRF230F
03 CRF150F
05 CRF70/88with racehead
89 Vmax
06 Predator 500
08 Raptor 250

Started on a Z50 I got for my 4th birthday that came as a box of parts my dad and I painted and reassembled. Hardtail and all...still one of my fondest rides.

So does this mean we should get the factory to change the kit that comes with the Race models? We don't need the top end, sprockets, air filters, etc. Put Rogaine, glasses, Aleeve in the kit?

oregon pampara rider 04-24-2011 12:37 AM

51 for a few more weeks. started riding when I was 17 on friends bikes. Got my first bike in a trade for doing a head gasket on a fiat x 19, miserable job. bike broke a piston on the way home. was a honda xl 125 with a poweroll 175 kit. broke kick starter gears, little suspension. made me work to keep up with my friends. next was a Honda xr200, rode for many years, including prerunning 800 miles in baja in 1999. then a couple of suzuki dr350's, I thought that was quite a bike till I jumped on a friends GASGAS- then my bike riding got really fun! Had to have a couple- got a little pampera, and my 300 which I had Les at LTR set up for me. Will ride these for a long time with a big grin!

Caravan Monster 05-03-2011 02:46 AM

36 - been trail riding most of my adult life. Doing as many rounds as possible of a novice hare and hounds enduro series this year, and plan to try riding some of the more interesting time card enduros in far flung corners of the UK starting next year. Learning plenty and enjoying the trials bike too (I was reminded the other day that I'm the third generation of trials rider in the family, so it's kind of compulsory!) Never be competitive, but have fun riding enduros just to finish. The EC300 is excellent, although with all that power, it can be something of a handful toward the end of an event

OttoBozart 11-18-2011 10:08 PM

I'd be a lot older if it wasn't for the bikes

It all started on a club cadet mini bike from two guys back in 69 when I was twevle, $129 out the door. 1971 saw a new SL 100 out the door at $499.00
Multiple Jap bikes up until 1986 when I went Euro on a WR400 monoshock, disc brake Husky. A KTM 300 followed in 93. But It was love at first sight when I saw my 98 EC 250 Six Days. I've purchased other bikes since, but I felt like I was cheating on my Gas Gas and had to let them go. Just like my other ole girl, I know this one inside out and its' held up pretty well and still gets the job done.

Current rides
2009 BMW R1200GS multipurpose vehicle
2007 Ducati Sport Classic sunny sunday ride
2007 GasGas txt 280 exercise and technique trainer, (I ain't that good)
2006 Triumph 675 Track bike, mental therapy
1998 Gas Gas EC 250, feels like a 125 with a 250's hit, reo-stat like-throttle, torques off the bottom and hits on top, loves the rocks and studs up for the winter. Too old and set in my ways to even thing about a different bike.

seamonster 11-19-2011 06:31 AM

41 years old now and started riding at 8 on a beat up z50 we got at a yard sale. Rode the tires off that until my KDX80 took its place and then way too many bikes to count. I ride alot still with friends of all ages but riding with my 7 year old daughter on her KTM 50 Senior is the best of all. My EC 250 is the first GG in my stable.

savage sausage 11-19-2011 06:00 PM

I'm 37 started riding when I was 14 on a honda xl125 then bought my 1st real motocross bike KX80 and then after that many many more bikes trial/motocross/road.

I would say I'm a nice glass of Duvel (belgian for devil) unique flavour crisp clean and oh yea it's 8.5% a bottle.....small but packs a REAL punch like a 250cc 2 stroke I suppose

allans 11-20-2011 07:01 PM

Hi everyone, New here will be 70 next month. Started riding in 1965, first dirt bike a Yamaha DT 175. Many bikes since. Hope to add an Gas Gas soon. Allan :)

jimjim 11-20-2011 08:12 PM

I am 47.Started riding a xr75,started racing MX on a yz 100.I do not own a GasGas bike, but I do have two GasGas quads, one Cannondale quad and a Honda CR 250 (I know)had too many rides to remember, funny how dirt never gets out of the blood!;)

toolmaker 11-20-2011 08:53 PM

I started riding at 21 after coming home from my overseas stint in the Army in 1968. Kind of a late start compared to a lot of guys, but I think I've more than made up for it. I didn't keep track of the number of enduros I've ridden, but probably 400-500. I'm 64 now and have as much fun as ever.

ss300 11-20-2011 10:08 PM

I started riding at around 13. First bike was a Honda 50 super sport. Learned
to ride in the fields and hills next to our farm. I think I am now 60. Ride
a 05 300de. Love riding single track. I could have competed in enduros and
off-road races. Was a pretty fast rider, well to the best of my recollection!

Dirt biking is in my blood. Still ride as hard as I can with not to much crashing.
Well from what I can remember. What is this post about anyway?

2stroker 12-01-2011 05:03 AM

Hi gassers

I am 40 years old and I started riding a XR250 when I was 18. Then, I rode a XR600, KTM 600, KTM duke (great bike!), and XRV750 Africa twin. Since 98 I entered in quad world with Warrior, Banshee, DS 650 and GG Wild.

Good rides.

Just hit .45 back in rocktober, been riding since 13 but have always been crazy about two wheels. 1975 yz80b was my first love. I go for quality over quantity now so at present I'll take an ice cold Modelo Negro.
Started my son out right with his first 2smoke Gas Gas xc250 @ 15 years of age.

Die Tante T. 12-07-2011 03:46 AM

I?m 40 and give a present to me this year. My first 2 stroke "smoker" since 1985 and my first Trial Bike ever. The TXT 280 give so much fun to me that I decide also to switch my Endurobike. Back from EFI and 4 stroke back to a simple 2 stroke which only have to work. The Berg?s and KTM?s don?t match with me so only TM, Husky and GG were left. Based on the best experience made with the TXT GG and the idea to get a Bike "ready to race out of the shelf" only one was left...the EC 300 11` Nambo. Awesome bike with best performance on stock setup I ever ride. Nothing to pimp on this bike, nothing to do on the suspensions...great stuff.
Cheers from germany

I'll be 50 next month, I think I appreciate GG EC300 torque, six speed gearbox and the ability to get you out of bad situations more than raw speed.
But it is fast when properly set up!!!:D

53 YO now, started riding 45 years ago on a home made Briggs and Stratton (with no recoil starter) powered rigid-framed mini bike. After one more "better made" B&S mini, I started down the path of "real" dirt bikes (an asterisk "*" means the bike is still in my garage)...

'87 Honda CR250R *

Grew up riding MX in the Central Coast of Cali (Santa Maria, home of Spillway Park), moved to the northwest after college and discovered off road racing, and I haven't looked back. For the kind of nasty, technical, steep, loose riding that we travel all over the US for, the GasGas has been the best bike I've ever had. After 7 years of hard use, it's currently torn down for a full rebuild, and it amazes me how little really needs to be replaced. The most worn out thing on the entire bike seems to be the rear brake caliper (where it slides on the locating pins on the carrier).
As much as I'd like to buy a new bike, 2 kids recently out of high school and trying to find their way in life make that a no-go financially, but I'm not feeling too bad about refreshing my "old" bike. At least now it'll LOOK nice and fresh when I have to see it next to Roscoe's spiffy new(er) bike.

I really miss the DT2-MX and the CZ. Especially the CZ.

46yo, I started riding (unbeknownst to my parents who forbade me) at 12 when a couple of friends got bikes (Honda XR70 & Yamaha GT80), my parents found out a few months before I turned 14. For my 14th B-day my day handed me the classified section of the paper (if you are under 30 and don't know what that is ... just ask your parents!), and said, find a dirtbike that you like with a price that I like.

I ended up getting a Hodaka Combat Wambat 125 a week later and I never looked back. Traveled the whole gambit from MX-HS-Road Racing back to HS & Enduro.

In 2009, I had the opportunity to join a team (chase crew/chief mechanic) to run the Sportsman class for the 2010 Baja 1000. A few days before leaving for Baja, I was given the opportunity to become the 5th rider as well! What a dream come true, until a crash on a "pre run" 2 days before the start, in which I broke several ribs 10 miles into a 40 mile run. Although, I was able to finish the run it was obvious that night I was out for riding and assumed my duties as mechanic and driver of on of the chase vehicles. What a blast it was!!!

I currently have a 2001 GG 250XC, I loved it soo much that I sold the 2000 KTM 300MXC that I had been riding. I do miss the grunt of the 300 but I don't like the "ride on top of a building" feel that the KTM's have (all my major crashes have been aboard a KTM- the 300 & 450rfs in Baja!) and I find that my GG has that "low in the saddle feel", very similar to the 94 YZ 250 (after revalve) that I rode before the KTM. I don't know if it is due to the factory or my suspension guy (Hyperformance Cycles) who had already set it up with the previous owner. I have only ridden one other GG, an 03 300 and it felt nearly the same to me.

Anyway, I am currently re-habbing from ACL recon surgery (MXing my XC) and looking to find a nice e-start bike, hopefully I won't have to resort to a PDS bike!

Bikes currently in the garage:
1982 Husky 430XC (for sale/trade)
1994 YZ 250
2001 GasGas 250XC
2003 CRF 150(daughter's)
2007 110 pit bike (my toy and son's ride)
2000 Kawasaki ZRX 1100 (for sale/trade)

My other addiction ......
1965 Fairlane 500 Sport Coupe
1966 Datsun SPL311 (1600)
1967.5 Datsun SRL311 (2000-#321)

52 this year. first 2 wheel ride was on the back of a 67 Honda Dream 350 when I was 8....had to dream about bikes till I was 15 and bought a 75 kx250. Have 9 bikes right now, never did like the big 4 bikes, so I bought the 250EC GG for single track woods. I vintage race MX also on a 74 CZ 400, 83 Husky 430WR; 77 Zuk RM 250.
