Dual Sport an '07 EC300

Does GasGas sell a kit with signals, horn, lights, controls, to convert the US EC's to the Euro street legal EC's. If not what is the easiest way to make convert to street-legal?

I know I have some wires tied up in my airbox, but I haven't bothered comparing them to a schematic. Are those just tail-light wires or signal wires also.

Are the signal and horn wires included with the handle bar controller, so I just have to plug power to the controller and then wire the controller to signals and horn?

Thanks,

Josh

This might be the easiest way to convert.

Thanks Hydrodog.

I was hoping to buy the components and install them myself. I guess I'll have to compare existing wiring to the schematics in the manual to see what wiring is already in place.

Australia sells the EC300 registered. It comes with all road registerable components. Maybe you could send these guys an email and see if you can get parts through one of the GasGas dealers her in Aus.

Importer--> http://www.gasgasaustralia.com.au/

A good dealer Picton Motorcycles--> http://www.pictonmotorcycles.com.au/

Skidad 03-11-2008 09:30 PM

Canada does as well. Did you see the new bike Cladoo set up in the photo gallery? The whole kit and kabootle, switches, blinkers, big rear fender extension etc. Maybe someone up there with a new bike would want to unload some of that stuff?

Skidad in MA

jyellard 03-14-2008 11:24 AM

Good idea Skidad.

If any of you Hosers would like to sell your signals and handlebar controller, I'm interested.

I have the license plate extension, and I can easily find the headlight and taillight which most of you probably want to keep.

Thanks,

Josh

When I bought my 06 300 the dealer told me I f I wanted all the euro road stuff that he could get it for me. NH doesn't require all of that stuff to plate your dirtbike so I did not bother. He said it was all plug and play. don't know if they changed the wiring harness much between 06 and 07. I'd go with the factory gasser stuff.

cladoo 03-15-2008 09:55 AM

I would have but I just sold a DE300 to a guy and he wants all the stuff on it. So guess what I am doing today?

Cladoo,

I'm no hurry. Please keep me in mind if you come across some more parts I need.

I guess I forgot to mention the horn also.

Do you know if I just feed power and ground to the handlebar controller, then the horn and signals plug into the controller?

Thanks,

Josh

I was looking on my 07 and the main wiring harness doesn't have all the connectors. It's rather amusing the bike has a front and rear brake switch but nothing to plug it in to.

I'm assuming GG is doing the same as KTM and has a stripped down wiring harness for the USA 07 and a full one for everybody else. I called Mark at GoFasters and he had no idea what I as talking about even though there's 2 different part numbers for the main harness.

I'm with you Josh, I would rather use the factory bits like I've done on my KTMs.

If anybody figures out a source I would also appreciate it

Ud_Luz,

You, like me, have a US spec "DE" model with the simple harness. The "world" spec bikes that everyone else gets have the full harness and all the switches, connectors, as well as the larger ignition. Euro street legal. Some early '07s came here this way. Find a guy that wants to trade, that hasn't hacked on of stripped the harness. There is a lot or wire on the "world" EC bike that most US racers don't need or want.

Ud_luz 03-20-2008 10:31 AM

Does my bike have the 2K2 stator then?

GMP 03-20-2008 11:25 AM

Look at your bike, if the stator wires exit toward the front at about 10 o'clock its a 2K-2, if they exit toward the rear on the flat of the cover its a 2K-3. Late '07 my guess is a 2K-2, but some early ones came with a 2K-3 and the DE harness.

BTW, I guess you havn't done so since you asked this question, but remove the ignition cover after a ride/wash.

Ud_luz 03-20-2008 11:50 AM

Rats, 2K2. Kind of limits the lighting to just a low watt headlight. Bummer. :(

I've got the 2k-2 also.

Why should I/we remove the ignition cover?

OK, which is it?

GMP 03-20-2008 10:20 PM

Typo. Look at the Sticky, and take your cover off. The 2K-2 wires exit front.

Because water gets in behind the cover. Remove it, clean it and spray inside with wd-40.

Ud_luz 03-21-2008 11:33 AM

Anybody want to trade? How about the stripped down harness for the full one too?

mountain thumper 03-21-2008 07:54 PM

i have it now!
!!the front circuit must be closed before the rear can be!!
yellow is basic ground(explain later)
in the front under the number plate, there are: 2violet,,1yellow,1yellowgreen
violet/ yellow is the running light, violet/ yellow/grn is head.
in the rear there are 2 parts
first harness is white, yellow green, violet
white=brakelight, y/g = ground, violet=hot
the second part(which i chose to cut into, since its not part of the chassis harness) i found tied up in the airbox has 2 parts
1) brown/black, im not sure what this is, i didnt use it
2) 3 prong with green, black, and brown.
green= brake switch, black=ground, brown=taillight
i hope this is helpful, it took me a while to figure it all out, since all the schematics i can find are black and white+low res

was one of the harnesses more expensive than the other?

That would be a reasonable assumption since one of them is much more complex and heavier than the other.

mountain thumper 03-22-2008 08:41 PM

addendum, if you dont have the bigger stator, just cross the violet/yellow wires up front to feed the headlight all the juice

thats what i was wondering, ive had that problem with my old xr, 2 part numbers for the same part, but with a different price

I have a 2k3 and the Euro harness now. Anybody want to unload a handlebar switch, speedo and blinker box for an 07?
