Toot My Own Horn

Won the local D17 (IL) Leaf River enduro today in the Super Senior class on my GG 300. And I think I may have wrapped up the title win in the D22 (IA) Super Senior class this season too.:)

Toot my son's horn

Jesse Warner was only 8 seconds from earning his first Overall Champion award at the same event on his '11 XC250 Six Days. He did get the O/A A win.
This is Jesse's rookie year as an A rider. He has clinched the D14 enduro Overall A & 250A Championships, leads the D15 Overall A and 250A points, and is also the top rider in the Midwest Toughman Enduro Championship.
Ironically, Jesse is still looking for a ride in 2012.

Are your SSR classes individual A and B or A/B combined? ECEA is separate and the NETRA event I did in spring was A/B combined, both 50+. I only raced these two this year, been doing more racing with the kids lately. I've always been primarily an enduro guy, but after a 2nd in the last HS race I'm thinking of doing a lot more next year.

Congrats to all.

50 - 59 years old. I'm 55.

Our SS classes are combined. In the past there has not been enough riders to justify splitting it, although our class is growing and I think it may have been the largest class of the day at 12 riders. Of course the fast guys are still fast and puts the average 50+ B guy at a big disadvantage of getting a trophy. And thank God, guys like Fredette still race for the overall and leave us other old guys alone. I think Fredette got 4th overall that day.

We have huge turnouts in enduros for B SSR. A little less for HS. Yeah, combined is tough for a B SSR, plus it tends to be a lot bigger class. I was lucky to pick off a few tired As for 7th.

i generally race in the 40+ class. some series i race are a/b/c and some are just lump 'em all together.

there are still tons of a riders racing in 40+ 45+ 50+ classes around here. 90% of the time the 40+ line is the biggest line (next to woodsmen or 250c). many guys are running 30+ since surprisingly it's generally a slower class...

Being 52, I race the Super Senior A class (50+) in District 14. But the last couple of trophies I earned said "A-SS".
My son thinks that's funny.

I would say this is true in IA/IL too, except we don't have a 45+ class.

Good ride Mike, but Layton told me that you keyed off him all day. Said he was getting tired of slowing down waiting for you to catch up.

McNut, I think you were the guy I talked to at the first out check. I was the guy with the flat tire on the 300 KTM. By the time I got back to the pits it had come off the rim. Hated that, it was perfect trail with perfect weather. Congrats to your son. Great ride!

mcnut 10-26-2011 01:53 PM

Yep. That's me.
I had the same thing happen to me at the last enduro I raced. Luckily it was in the last section not the first like you.

Layton likes to fantasize.:D But he did pick a good start minute...late, so the trail was worn in.

Good Ride!
congrats!
Wish I didnt have to work 2 sundays a month. Byron is always a good ride, and reminds me of my own neck of cornfield county where the land is so flat-you can see the curvature of the earth.
