If you ask nicely and bring the pies,i'm sure I can accomadate you.

john01 08-09-2011 06:47 AM

Congrats on your 300 RACE! Did it come with the extra stuff top end kit etc?

GMP 08-09-2011 08:44 AM

I might do that ('11 300 Race) if the deal is right and the forks work decent with no first year flaws. How do they work in rocks/roots/sharp edge stuff? As long as they can be valved correctly without drama no problem. I'm just waiting for some ride reports, and the price of the '12 before I pull the trigger.

Glenn,
Jeff Melik has quite a bit of time on the new 300 race wth the 48 Zokes. He says they take about 10 hours to break in. Then he told me they were the best stock fork he had ever ridden. After the rocky/rooty PA National Enduro two weekends ago, he told me that he thought the re-valved Ohlins were prolly better on the little stuff but that the Zokes had waaaay better bottoming resistance. He said he was going to have his suspension guy lighten up the initial travel for little stuff.
I got a Nambo for me and my son but we haven't even started them yet. Hopefully can ride them later this week.
Clay

GMP 08-09-2011 09:45 AM

Thanks Clay. I anticipate some valving tweaks, always do that. I was bummed I missed the national and meeting you guys in CrossFork, been doing that one for years. I waited for a buddy to clear his schedule and missed the 500 rider cap. By PA standards, thats a fairly smooth course.

nambo-trev 08-09-2011 09:50 AM

I had been offered a nambo from a dealer but it really puts me off that they arrive so late in the season for us up here in Canada. If were lucky we ride into the first week of November. The nambo arriving early to mid august in my opinion is really horrible for the guys wanting to get a whole summer of riding in on there new bike. Whatever there reasoning is, it seems to me like a poorly laid out plan to showcase there flagship bikes at the end of summer right before the 12's are released. Just my 2 cents

Oh yeah it came with the kit as advertised.Top notch Gasgas.I binned the horrible std footpegs for a set of pivots and was good to go.

You know, Trev....I agree. I asked the factory why they do this and was told that it was done late in the year to create some excitement about the brand during the lull between the last release of the non replica bikes and the coming year's models. Seems backwards to me, too. Also, the bikes were later this year due to a vendor's delivery problems. Our bikes were 40 days later than planned due to this one vendor.

Clay, do the '11 Nambos have the new linkage like the '12s?

Guys how cool is to have the man "Clay" on this site answering our questions? Thanks Clay. gasmonkey glad to hear the RACE comes with the extra stuff. I'm 99% sure my next bike will be a 200 RACE.

GMP 08-10-2011 10:15 AM

I'm thinking 300 Race or '12 300 XC. After years on 250s I'd like to try a 300 but I'll be keeping my 250 for a little while too. If I can't get along with the 300 I could always make it a 250. Plus I have an option to pick up a GG125 cheap to use as a small bore racer/project bike.

kirkpatrickracing 08-10-2011 06:38 PM

Just built up the nambotin replica today. Bike is stunning. Shock and linkage is much different than my 250 six days was. My other TTX shock had the csc adjuster mounted on a totally different side of the shock.

Enjoy

THe Cervantes and Nambo both have the new linkage.

Clay 08-10-2011 08:12 PM

Holy cow, Cole! How did you get that bike blinged out so quick? You just got it yesterday, right? Did Richard get any sleep last night?

GMP 08-10-2011 08:38 PM

Despite it technically being an '11 model, in reality it has everything the standard '12s will have and a lot more. So its more like an early '12.

Just trying to cheer the poor guys up that got them so late.:D

gasgasman 08-10-2011 09:04 PM

Page 55 shows the new linkage parts.

kirkpatrickracing 08-10-2011 10:13 PM

Clay we did it all today, teamwork.

Initial impressions on the motocross track is that the linkage is very noticeable. It felt much better than my previous model. Previously, when id hit the faces of steep jumps, or land hard the shock wouldn't slow down much. I felt like it would blow straight through unless I had a lot of compression clicked into it. With the new linkage, the bottoming out seemed to disappear and it was a much more progressive feel. Big day of testing tomorrow, dialing in forks with correct springs and a few other tricks. I'll be posting a video on my blog early next week. Also I'll have a report of the new moto tassenari v force 4 reed system.

DJHollenbeck 08-10-2011 10:24 PM

Is the new linkage interchangable with the 2011 Race? New linkage and newshock maybe? Or do we just have to wait for the 2012's

Probably. The shock is a different length.

GMP 08-11-2011 10:44 AM

Think the frame is the same? Tough to say by a few frames of video, could be though. The Nambo part# is BE100002511. What is a standard '11 frame part#? Maybe color difference changes # too.

Looking at page 47 on the link I posted above. The frame is different. The dog bones mount to a tubular boss on the bottom of the frame.

gasgasman 08-16-2011 09:05 PM

This linkage look familiar? 2012 KXF.

GMP 08-16-2011 09:52 PM

There are only so many basic geometries. The Husky is similar too. I see it dragging more on technical obstacles as its lowest closer to the wheel, unlike the original that is lowest right at the frame. This along with the fork should make the bike even more versatile.

gasgasman 08-17-2011 07:25 AM

The good part is Gas Gas deleted the vertical brackets (at the rear engine mounts) for the linkage .

Boomhauer 08-17-2011 11:35 AM

My Berg has no linkage!:p End of hi-jack:D

GMP 08-17-2011 01:07 PM

Trying to stay cool in this heat. The knee did not require any surgery as of yet. Girard & I rode 2 weeks ago and had a blast except with the heat. Knee was doing good with no major issues.

How you been?

GMP 08-17-2011 02:33 PM

Been good. Hot summer here too but I don't dare complain to you guys as the street hasn't melted. I'll miss it after XMas when its stupid cold and snow till April. Figured you spent the summer fishing. Taking kids racing this weekend after torturing them in the rocks all summer. New scooter this fall.

Boomhauer 08-17-2011 07:54 PM

I have only been out in the boat 4 times this summer. Work has been stupid crazy!

Did you ween them kid's off of the red bull yet?:D I still laugh at that story!:D

We have a new GG dealer in Eastern Idaho[Terreton]. Seems like a decent guy.The first bike he recieved was a Nambo. It is sitting there all pretty.

aflica 09-08-2011 09:24 PM

The Boat arrives In Vancouver on Saturday with mine
hopefully the customs gods will not hold up the shipment and i will see mine next week maybe
Been a long wait , good thing i had a 2010 Nambo to ride while i waited :)
The 2010 is being sold to a happy new owner who is moving up from a Husaberg

And Btw , im having the E-Start fitted on it right away , now i just have to lose the extra weight to make up for the difference
