Can I add a starter?

I have a 2011 ec300. Does anyone know if I can add the starter to this bike and what does it cost?
Thanks

Yes, I think the kit cost about $900. It includes new subframe, battery box, etc.

with a small space plate of about 3mm you can add the starter as well on a 99er!

I'm pretty sure the $900 kit is for the earlier GGs as they did not have the newer subframe. IF I'm right the '11 already has the right subframe w/battery box. You'd just need the wiring, switch, starter, different flywheel (with starter ring) and maybe a heavier stator. Call Mark at Go Fasters or a good dealer for details

Unfortunately for '11 you still need to buy a sub-frame.

Are there 2 different sub frames Steve?

BE250710001 - frame tail
BE120002510 - subframe w battery holder

But you could safely sell that non-battery holder subframe, or you could save it for a backup. That kit is a pretty slick deal, most companies you would end up having to buy a whole new bike for that option.

I'm only 230 miles to the north of you and I might be willing to sell the e-start setup on my 2011 ec250. Does anyone know whether or not the wiring harness would have to be changed?

I have rode my 2011 a total of three times and the estart is a total piece of sh!t . At first it would not engage all the time now it hangs up after i do get it started and will not disengage unless i blip the throttle. I specifically asked the dealer how they worked before I bought it and he said they were flawless. I would save my money, I am less than impressed.

Have you asked your dealer if they will help you?
There is a gasket kit you can get that adjusts the spacing of the starter and this seems to fix the starter engaging problem that most people have. It appears to be an alignment issue.

I have, I have been told that Gofasters shipped the parts last week every week for a month. On a positive note I love the bike , I have owned a ton of bikes and this one is the best bike I have owned period. It is a Ninja, the starter deal is just a piss off because that was my biggest concern.

Seems like the e-starts work well once the clearance is worked out and a stronger battery is used. I'm just too cheap to spend high dollars for a new battery every other year for a bike that is so easy to start. I've also found that I only start the bike one third as often as I used to before getting an auto clutch.

Same deal here dude, my bendix went out after 4 rides and ts 220$. To add to that my kick starter bent the next ride. I wasnt real thrilled. I bought a yz kicker and the estart just adds weight to the bike now. Kinda figured maybe they would warranty the bendix but no luck. Next one wont be a estart for sure! On a positive note the bike is badass other than that. Im looking forward to owning a 12/13 because of the new taller seat height and same 300 motor. Im 6'1 275 so the 11 sits a little too low for me even w a taller seat.

Gasser, did u ever find out if different wiring is needed to swap someone that wants an estart setup. My bikes apart and im looking into canning it for plain ignition case etc.

Bobt250 11-08-2013 09:17 PM

The starter sucks and I forgot in other rants to say that when my E-start failed my kickstarter broke. I wouldn't waste my money on this E-start. It sucks and is expensive.

The wiring is the same. But the connectors are slightly different depending on the application.
