3.2 gal Clarke Tank on a 2005 DE250

I'm doing some pre-race wrenching and decided to plop on the new tank to see how it fits. It dropped down a bit easier than the stocker. I'm not sure where it gets the extra 0.7gal capacity, but I'll take Clarke's word for it.

One problem has arisen due to the Scotts damper post. The tank has a flange in front that is designed to fit on the tank breather hole (the other hole is covered by the new tank). The post partially blocks that. I'll likely affix this at an angle and drill & tap a new hole.

Thanks for the photos. It appears that the solution is not the http://www.ptenduro.com/ device but the fact that the Scotts stem clamp is mounted higher up on the steering clamp, thus giving better access to the hole. I'll give that a try, but I'm always reticent to play with that hex head for fear of stripping it.

I've been thinking of getting an under-bar mount. $99 isn't horrible. Looks like I'll need a new control arm and stubby stem from Scotts as well.

What's the lowest-profile model that I can get for the GG? The web site shows only one but it looks much taller. Are these for fat bars?

the clamp is the stock one scotts sent me for my bike.if you go that route, you only need to cut down your stem and reverse the arm and thats it,Im not sure but i think it says its 5/8 over stock and it does fit fat bars,if you need something custom, call protecttenduro and talk to pete the owner,he will make you whatever you need

You have the stabilizer post too low.
The plastic inverted cup has to be cut in half, so you can raise up the post.

After you do that, you will have room for the fuel tank bolt.

Yes, or as in fury's pic, he has the thinner steel cup supplied with the tower. I don't see a problem as the bracket is countersunk and appears to use a flathead screw. The only PIA would be having to loosen and rotate the tower to remove the tank. The stock tank (with shrouds attached) is a bitch to remove with the tower in place as well.

that happened to me all the time, but it was the flat allen that mounts the tab to the underneath of the tank would loosen up,requiring to loosen all the dampner hardware to pull the tank to tighten it up
