Sloppy linkage bolt

Is the hole in the right frame flange made oversize for a reason, or I?m i missing a bushing?

Shouldn't be that loose.
Seeing that the hole is completely round, I think that's the wrong bolt.

I agree. Does the bolt fit well inside the linkage bushing?

Yes. It's a 12 mm bolt and the hole in the opposite frame flange is the correct size. There is also no sign at all of wear on the bolt. The frame flanges have a steel bushing welded on the inside of them that protrudes flush with the outside. I'm thinking an incorrect sized bushing got welded into the frame flange or the hole is supposed to be a little over size for the bolt to be able to clear the outer frame rail by the rear brake pedal. This bolt already has a flat on one side of the head for that reason. It obviously does not move much or at all when the bolt is tightened and torqued as it would still be clamping the frame flange. it just seems odd for a 12mm bolt to have a 14mm hole, especially for some thing under that much load like a suspension component.

I agree. It's odd, and I don't think it was intended that way. If it was mine, I would just turn a suitable bushing to fill the void (as I have a lathe).

I wonder if it had a flanged bolt originally. maybe you can find a flanged washer similar to whats used for the plastics

The brother made me a steel flanged bushing today. The bearing/bushing in the U shaped link was the only bearing that had play, so I expect the oversize hole could have been a factor. I think I may replace this bolt for piece of mind too, just in case it suffered some fatigue from flexing.
