Changing out the air fiter for the first time

Got a new funnel web and oiled it up.

Fitted it up and at first it sealed ok at the left side but not on the upper side. A bit of wiggling and it seemed to fit better on the top with the black seal surface surface making good contact with the air box.

When I fiited the spring loaded rod it fitted into the platic cup at the back of the airbox but it seems to be at a strange angle.

Hopefully you can see this from the photos. Have i messed up? Is there some tips/ tricks to replacing the filter? Or does it look ok?

Both my twin air and uni filters do seem to flare up a touch on the flange side like yours. I've found that you need to press down in different locations around the outside edge of the filter towards the engine 3 or 4 times until you feel it isn't seating any further.
I've never had any dust make it through doing it this way, not sure about the spring clip though.

Thnbaks for the feedback....yeah I found I had to keep pushing around the edges to get it to seat
