2009 ec300 sachs suspenders

Hi all

I had chance to try my new bike for a short time yesterday over some rough whoopy ground and initial impressions are that it is set up very hard ,mif i was young a fit and riding it in motox maybee not so bad , but im 44 and not so fit due to being off a bike for two years.
Is it worth replacing the saches shock for an gas gas ohlins damper or just get the saches shock revalved along with the forks.
We have a guy who works for the gas gas team called steve plain who iv heard good things about.

Any advice would be much appriciated.

The Sachs shock is fine, it has two known problems, the energizer o ring under the piston band can be too small and wear quickly causing blow by and loss of damping and the ball bearing check valve can 'moan'. Both have easy fixes detailed in many threads. My bike and other also have squeaky shocks which I'm near certain are the seal, just sounds bad.

As for action, it is a good as you'll gt once set up correctly, I use a racetech gold valve and valving, mainly for the new piston band setup.

A revalve and it should be great.

Thanks , so your saying just revalve the sachs and dont go for a ohlins rear .

Yep, it's actually good quality steel bodied with good tolerances. Cheers.

I am guessing that the previous owner did a revalve on the forks. You normaly only notice the rear once the forks have been fixed

If the tuner is good he will update the shock with the correct parts. Once this is done and its sprung/valved for you its as good as an Ohlins.

Thanks all , as far as i know they are standard , i asked the guy i bought it from and he thought they were but didnt ask the guy he got it off.
There is a leak on one of the fork seals so ill take the lot off a send it in , steve plain runs the gas gas enduro team here so he should know what he is doing lol.
Thanks again
Chris

Not that i know of , the whole bike seemed set up very hard , i knew the forks were going to be hard from what id read on the net , i just wasnt sure if it was worth swapping the shock for a ohlins as there is one up for grabs used.

Ok see your point. I am going to revalve my shock soon, mainly because it is groaning and I figured that if I have to get someone to open it up I might as well improve it at the same time, but it is not bad stock once you have it setup right

How big is scunthorp? Do you know my buddy Andy Stanford? Haha had to ask!
