new body work on older bike?

Anyone tried to put the newest body work (plastic/seat) for the gasgas on an older model? Say like 2010 bodywork on a 2005 bike? Just curious... thanks

'07 is the oldest you can upgrade due to the completely different subframe and tail design on the pre '07 bikes.

gmp..
so if you upgrade an older one (say like my 01) you would need a subframe, air box, plastic of course, a seat, and a fuel tank..
is that it ?

Would 2010 & 2011 plastics work on a 08 ?

I don't think you can upgrade the new tail/subframe on anything older than '05. It might work but I can't say. I do know that an '05+ is easy as the seat tank are the same.

Yes, '10 and '11 plastic go on '07-'09 with a rear airbox panel change:

Thus question comes up often in various forms. It might be good to post know good conversion options/detailed chassis changes over the years and make a sticky.

Well I guess you answered your own question! Thats a nice job! I would say the tank, seat, and all plastic. I'd like to see how the new tank fits in the old frame up close before I bought one. Also your exhaust may have to be tweaked, and the use of an '07+ silencer, or bend the stinger of the old one to fit on the new subframe is a must. The '00-'02 frame was a good turner, better than my '03. While the flatter seating position on the '07+ is very nice, it will be an expensive project unless you find a part out. I'd want Zoke forks as well if I was going that far.

yeah.. it is kinda just a dream if i could find a part out..
missed a great bike here not to long ago, gasgasmans 01 250 with full ohllins was for sale here local... and tons of guards mine does not have also..
could have bought the bike, swapped it all, and resold it for about the same money..

imagine the 300, full ohlins, all guards, 07 up plastics..
