2011 Preproduction models in July
I have heard that GasGas Spain are starting back up from Summer holidays next week and will be making some preproduction EC300's & EC250's with electric start to air freight out to several countries for magazine reviews.
The starter will be more substantial than the flimsy KTM one. Australia will get 2 of these bikes late next month. They also get a blinged up 200cc as standard (kick start only) which will make the KTM200 look very under-spec'd for the same price, and an Australian only spec'd EC450....but I couldn't get any more info on that. Anyone hear any more gossip on what is coming to other parts of the world? |
A very, very, limited amount of pre-production 2011 EC300 model electric start bikes we're in production for testing as of today, July 29th, 2011.
The photo link has been temporarily removed....sorry This year GasGas has made a substantial effort to produce 100s of 2011 enduro motorcycles before the traditional August holiday break. |
interesting solution. definitely looks retrofittable. but i'll stick with a kicker..

Cool pics!
What's this 200??? Ummm...I don't see any 250/300 F's in the pic. :( |
Cool thanks for posting these pics Steve!
Starter looks very beefy and looks like it can endure alot of use. All be it a bit ugly and large. May be a bit of extra weight, but if its reliable thats worth the trade off. If you rode a bike with one and without one probably can't feel the difference until you stab the little red magic button. Then you :D and rail away before the other can pull his kick start lever out. The Gas Gas factory just screams excellence, just like their products. Roscoe |
Without spending a lot of time looking over the pre-production models while it was in production today it looks like you will need the following parts if you're going to try and convert your kick start Gasser:
1) ring gear for EC ignition flywheel, 2) special ring gear nut, 3) "new e-starter" clutch cover, 4) "bendix" drive assembly, 5) "bendix" drive cover / holder, 6) PV cover w/ starter mounting bracket, 7) starter, 8) plastic starter protector sleeve, 9) starter button, 10) wiring harness, 11) battery tray for subrame or new subframe w/ battery tray, 12) starter relay, 13) new seat base, 14) battery....... Did I miss anything? |
Thanks for the photos. The bikes look amazing! Wish I had money to buy one.
The e-start looks interesting. I can't wait to read the reviews of the bikes. |
WOW. That starter looks like it could fire up an Evirude 300hp outboard.:D
Thanks for the pics Steve! |
e start looks ugly ....
I want to know more about this gas gas 200??? |
