Adding a map switch to 2018 XC/EC

I am wondering if the wiring coming from the 2018 ECU will allow me to install a map switch?

This might be a trivial matter to some, but I use my map switch quite a bit, especially during long races. Rain for techical climbs, or when I am tired. Sun mode for when I am in pursuit.

I looked into this.

The schematic shows a spot for the map switch.
You can buy the CDI connectors on e-bay that are pre wired. looks the same as the KTM two strokes.

Whether or not the CDI is configured for a map switch, I don't know.

I guess the 2019 part numbers could be informative, if we had access to 2019 part number.

My dealer (as of today) did not know the answer, and he asked last week.

From Mr. Berg:

Hello Rick

The wiring harness would have to be changed AND a new CDI with a different program, along with the switch itself. Not like back in 2005 when all was needed was the switch and a harness.

Strange,,, there was an update from gasgas to update 2018 cdi to 2019.
So it should be the same cdi box right?😳

One can hope.

Somehow I find it odd that GG would do a dang-fool thing like dropping a common feature it and everyone else has.

I ask the importer here i Sweden. And he told me that it was not possible to add a map switch to 2018.

So, I?ll need to buy a 2019 ECU and splice in a switch.

I'm just going to ride it.. I have never put either of my bikes into rain mode every intentionally. I have always preferred the aggressive maps, and just shifted up gears if traction was poor.

I use it to keep the motor calmer when I?m fatigued.

I don?t think I?ll like the price of admission.
