2010 EC250 AS2 base settings
Hi all,
After having bought a bit of a lemon - It turns out the rads were near empty, blew a head gasket, white smoke, jug off and saw scores, so thats off being plated, new rads, new piston kit...! So, while that's being sorted im giving the bike a full once over! Full swingarm/rocker bearings are being done and im now onto checking the reeds/carb. It has the standard N1EF needle (2nd clip), so i have bought a NEDW to replace it with (planning 2nd clip again?). It has a 178 main and a 42 pilot and the air screw was 1 turn out when i got it. Im based in the UK, so low altitude and its going into winter so temps are 0-20 degrees celcius. Can anyone suggest if this is a good starting point for me? Should i drop to a 40 maybe? (i ride mainly green lanes, single track natural stuff, some enduro. Not really a MX track kind of guy) Suggestions very welcome. :) |
For those temps I'd probably start at clip 3. But other than that you should be in the ball park.

Regarding the idle, its came with it really wound in, and im worried its pushing onto the main circuit at idle (it started nearly cold with no choke!) but idled fine (before the thing died spewing out white smoke!). Hows best to start with the idle? |
42 and a W diameter should be fine. I'd start 1.5 - 1.75 turns out on the AS but as always it's only a starting point. You won't know much until it's up to temp.
Back the idle screw right off. It's cranked in to overcome the short overly rich straight section of the N1EF. |
