So i am kind of interested in getting some motard wheels for my gasgas. I have done some searching but im not coming up with much in the "how to" category.

Let me ask some questions:

Can you use the stock hubs, just laced up with 17 inch rims?

How does one handle the brake rotors front and back?

Is there a kit to relocate the calipers for the larger rotors?

Sound like you can use other rims, but its lots of work to mod the rims for the spacing and the chain alignment, is that true?

It seems like most of this stuff is kind of hard to find used, on either the parts forum or ebay, is that true?

What about buying this stuff new. expensive?

In short, what is the cheapest best way to do this?

My gut tells me, find the gasgas hubs used, lace up with new rims,

Also, what is the cush hub that is needed on the rear wheel?

I did this on my husky. Was relatively easy but expensive.

So, you can lace to existing hubs, but why not look for complete wheels?

You can run with stock brake rotor, but if you will race, you want big one, so you will need caliper relocator bracket and big disk with proper offset.

Different chain is needed as well to account for different sprocket sizes.

Cush hub is nice, but not really needed.

On husky, my cost was around $1500 all in...and I used to swap back and forth between dirt and sumo.

For all street riding is the Cush hub a must, and who make good cheap one? If the bike has a Rekluse does that change or help with wear in the street?

I would think that fast stops would place as much or more stress on the hub than the engine does. If that's the case then anti-lock brakes might help more than a slipper clutch. I know this doesn't help it's just food for thought.
