Nick: Its tough to tell which would be better for you - if you fill your address the collected minds here might have a better chance of giving you good advice.

I'm racing a 250 in Michigan because I can handle it at the end of a 3 hour hare scrambles in our tight to moderately tight woods, and the fact that our average speeds are between 14 and 18 mph. I used the ignition switch several times a lap Sunday, so the 250s slightly lower power (vs a 300) wasn't an issue.

The 300 feels a little heavier - gyro, not actual weight - and has more bottom, mid, and top. If I was racing faster events or riding more open trails I might pick this one. Hard to go wrong in either case.

I agree hard to go wrong with either. I just had a 250 and upgraded to a 300.

The 300 hundred is perfect.

Pick the 250 if you like riding on the pipe.

Pick the 300 if you take it a little easier and want to be more lazy.

bingo!! I ride the same area as einstein .... I ride an 06 300 and I'll be looking to unload it soon. My husky 144 is a bit easier to throw around in the trees and a lot easier to hang onto at the end of the day. 300 is great for chugging along and doing long haul trail rides. I'm thinking my ultimate ride should be a 200 or maybe a 250f of some sort. If you like the pipe go 250, although I've never ridden one. If your a real man and can ride like an animal
all day the 300 might do!!

I have the 300 and it is really great for chugging up climbs, you can almost go at walking pace and keep going, twist the throttle and it moooooves out!

I had a kx250 2t and to be honest i cannot say that the 300 is any harder to move around than the old kx, it is only 50cc diff, but pays dividens when climbing the gnarly stuff, and does not run out of legs on the open road

Ah, the classic question with good answers.

The 250s yank less off the bottom when twisted so they do not wear you out as much. If not racing or competive trail riding in tight woods the 300 might feel eaiser to ride, but the 250 has plenty off the bottom and is a great all around bike.

I have owned both and prefer the 250. I have a friend who raced "AA" on a GG a few years ago and he had a 250 and a 300. He said he always felt that he was going faster on the 300 but his lap times were always better on the 250.

I have found the 250 easier to jet and it seems to run cooler than the 300 as well.

GG 300 for this fat old man!

I faced the same dilemma this year, get a 250 or 300.

After 12 years of riding various size KTM’s, I was never really satisfied with anything other than a 200, but only because of its light weight. In my thinking…a 250 Gasser would be the hot setup for me, but before pulling the trigger, I asked a good friend of mine which bike would he recommend for me since we have ridden allot of enduro’s together over the years, knows my abilities as a rider and isn’t afraid to tell it like it is.

Without hesitation or a smile, he said, “Rod, lets face it…you’re too old, fat and lazy to ride anything other than a 300. You need the extra displacement, to make up for your lack of ability and aggression. Those extra CC’s will help carry you along and trust me dude…you need all the help you can get!”

What a pal right? Man that hurt!

So, I got a 2010 GG 300… and have never regretted it once. The bike feels MUCH lighter than what I had expected and has usable power in all situations. If I want to ride like a hero (about 30 seconds worth before I’m winded) then all I have to do is twist it back and hang on. The bike tracks straight thru the nasty stuff and rails turns like a slot car. However…after those 30 seconds are over, and I want to “cow trail” the bike and ride on the pilot jet, the bike will plunk right along at a crawl without a whimper. (I love that map switch!)

For me, the GG 300 is simply an awesome “do it all” machine and I can’t wait for the upcoming enduro season here in the South. I’m very happy with my choice and sure am glad that my old riding buddy steered me in the right direction.

Thanks Clay….

I'm with Glenn on this one. I've ridden a couple GasGas 300's and 250's now, and when you're running out of steam towards the end of a ride, the 250 is definitely easier on you. Although, after spending a couple hours on a new Nambo last weekend I may be swayed in the future :D That thing is a weapon!

i started with a 300 and ended up with a 250, i liked both bikes, but the 300 would be the best choice in my opinion.
im a bigger guy, and the 300 has so much grunt, its more like a 3stroke, its got all the bottom of a 4t ut zing like a 2t.
ive ridden almost all the gasser sizes and styles (ex trials and supermoto) and i honestly will only buy another brand (off road)bike of any size to make a profit, with the exception of my (future) cr500af.
you simply cannot go wrong with a gas gas**disclaimer- if you buy a hammered used bike, thats your fault :)
