Strange noise

I?ve had a strange noise coming from the motor on my 2014 ec250 ever since I?ve had it. It sounds like there is a bolt rattling around in the explosion chamber, which I can confirm it is not.

I?ve been trying to pin point the noise for a long time, or to try and work out a pattern to it but Ive been unable to.

Any ideas folks?

Run the engine with right side power valve cover removed. See if the power valve is rattling. The mechanism may not have enough tension to keep the power valve stationary at low RPM. The PV linkage rod could also be rubbing on the engine case.

The exhaust pipe could also rattle if it's sitting out of place. There is also a lot of clutch noise. Most of it goes away when you pull the clutch lever in.

Thanks very much, I?ll check through those points today.

Replace the O rings at the spigot. They wear out pretty quick and can cause quite the racket due to leaking exhaust and the physical rattling. Put a healthy smear of high temp silicone on the spigot when you install the pipe to help it slide into place.

Thank you for the advice but it can?t be that, I?ve just replaced the o-rings and the noise hasn?t gone away.

All things suggested.

The o-rings are really common though, and the rattles can also happen if the pipe has been tweaked out of alignment. A boot pushing against the pipe can help isolate it.

I've also had rad braces that rattle like buggery on falling revs. Be methodical and try and pin point the source.

Check the low bracket that connects the chamber with the frame. There is a gromet that wears off causing a buzzing even when the screw and nut are tight
