Expansion Chamber Rubbing / Melting Coolant Hose

1 Attachment(s)
Hi All, quick question, my expansion chamber is rubbing on / melting my coolant hose on the right side. It's been like this since I've had it, so I'm not sure if something is installed arse-backwards or not? 2011 EC250

I'm planning to sleeve it with a split piece of hose to protect it, but any ideas? Cheers.

Think I've managed to get it mostly out of the way with some cable ties now.

That hose is rooted by look of it. Will split very soon I'd say so may be worth replacing.
I use old UHD inner tubes for that sort of thing.

My 2010 was the same. Just bend the outlet tube on the bottom of the radiator to give some clearance. It's very soft and doesn't take much force. And you really should replace that hose before it lets go.

You can heat the pipe and dent it to provide more room for the hose or can you loosen the lower hose clamp and slide the hose up slightly to provide more of a bend away from the pipe.

I also agree that the hose should be replaced. Maybe just buy some generic heater hose and make it longer so it can bend away from the pipe.

I would be afraid that the zip ties will also wear through the hose.

Your pipe may have taken a hit on that side and pushed it inward toward the hoses?

split that hose and wrap it around the new one, it is a common place for the pipe to rub with a small hit so worth keeping protected

Cheers yeah I'll get a new hose good idea, I've got the old one to put back on in the meantime too which is in better condition.

There is a small dent on that side of the pipe so that's probably what made it worse.

Cheers for the help.
