Trail Tech - Voyager

Does anybody have the inside scoop on this new unit from Trail Tech?
http://trailtech.net/voyager.html

I just bought a dualsport bike and was looking for GPS options and found this.

i have had terrible luck with trailtech units. they are just barely water resistant...... maybe they've improved, but i wouldn't buy another until they say 'water proof' or at least very water resistant...

Would that thing have an rpm meter? It's a very cool piece of technology and i would consider it if it's reasonably priced (-500 €)

Me, too....

Well- there's two of us, anyway, as most people seem to like them. Maybe it has something to do with where we ride... I don't know.
Taking it off and trying to dry it out got real old, real fast.
I'm also older and maybe a bit less tech saavy or feature needy, but I didn't care for all the crap and buttons- speedo/odo/trip is all I need! I got tired of toggling through this or that to change settings, pressing buttons, etc
I don't need the computer to flash when my fork oil should be changed.

There are GPS tracks on that site I would pay $100 to have taken down. http://i855.photobucket.com/albums/a...perfection.jpg

Stuff like this gets trashed quick when posted on the net!

I use a bicycle speedo. It's about an inch across, weighs nothing, cost $20. Has speed, dist, time moving, average speed etc etc and a clock that stays on! It uses the stock reed relay pickup in the front caliper. Been on there 2 years now!

Hmmm...

Now there's an idea. Thanks- Gonna try that!
There are some cool items at bike shops that I've found to work well on our bikes; Mirrors, lights (F/R) if your bike doesn't have one and you need one for a ride or event, I especially like the super lightweight tools they have. They weigh 1/3 of reg tools and will do the job trailside..... usually.

Bchatt,

Would you please post the brand and model or part number for the bicycle speedometer that you are using?

Thank you

Odo

http://www.kosonorthamerica.com/

I ordered one from these guys today- my experience couldn't be any worse than with TrailTech, so what the heck?
Page 4, I think- Basically just a Speedo/Odo which is all I want.
XR-S, I think.

UB777, the speedo I am using is one I stole off my sons mountain bike! he doesn't ride it much anymore. It is a CATEYE Tomo XC. It must be 4 years old by now so may not be available any more - there's bound to be similar around. The plusses: it's cheap, small, light, has a clock, displays speed, av speed, max speed, trip distance, odo, time moving, uses the stock front caliper pickup. The minusses: the numbers are really too small to read when you are riding, it doesn't have a minute counter (enduro type counter).

The "Sigma" branded pushbike speedos are also quite good. The last two bikes I've had I've used these on. Bonus is that they have an hour meter in them which is probably a lot more useful on a dirt bike for servicing than an odometer. The numbers on the unit I use are big enough to read while riding.
EDIT - hour meter is just like bchatt has described on his - it's time moving which equates to an hourmeter for a dirt bike.

All,

Thank you for the information, I will have to look into what is available in the US, and I assume that they can be calibrated to be accurate on a MC application.

Yep, in the set up there will be a place where you enter the wheel circumference. I can't remember exactly what is for a 21" front, but I know it did easily fit within the available parameters. Mine seems reasonably accurate.
