jtr160 engine
hi im jonny and new to this forum
i dont do trials but ive picked up a jtr160 motor dirt cheap its for a project im doing that involves putting the motor into a lambretta chop frame, please dont laugh lol i cant find much info on this motor, so far its said it could be 144cc but badged as a 200? seems odd to me to call it 160 if its not now all i have is the bare motor without a clutch cover, cdi/coil carb or pipe. its compact and light so thought it worth a punt and may sort my needs. does anyone know what sort of power these thing make, and also if any other barrels fit from enduro or mx, or i can port the existing barrel and get a pipe to suit as ive got loads of room, it wont be for racing just a cheaper alternative to a 5 grand lambretta motor any help with this motor would be much apreciated as well as a pointer to get the clutch cover from before i get the welder out and start making a cradle for engine mounts and swingarm thanks, jonny |
Where are you located.
That is an old motor probably mid-90s probably start looking on eBay for parts. Am I correct that you're going to put it in a go-kart. Trials bikes are geared very very low first second and third 4th 5th and 6th are higher but you won't get much speed out of it. |
hi im in the uk
no not for a go kart, but to go in a lambretta chop frame, not sure how to post pics but google lambretta chop and yr see what i mean if torquey enough id gear it up, i know its old but not as old as the 60s lambretta engines that are tuned up to 50 odd hp and cost a fortune does this motor use the same cases as the jtr 125 for example? i can tune it, i have a 1966 vespa that has 27hp so thats not an issue |
You mite want to try here some very knowledgeable people this is more a off road enduro site.

Start again.
We dynod a 250 Trials bike at 12hp circa 2000. They are meant for Trials and totally unsuitable starting point for you purpose. I had a 2000 200 which was a only 163cc. Was a great bike for its environment. Not so flash if trail opened up. |
