07 fsr 450 muffler baffles

gday folks not sure if this has been covered before but im wondering if there is any advantage gained or possible damage done by removing the cone shaped baffles from either end of the muffler on my 07 fsr450.
this stock muffler seems more restrictive than any bike muffler ive come across......but i dont want to take them out if there is a possibility of doing damage or if the bike wont run as well without them.

BTW Is this the black original muffler? I have one and it's not to restrictive; it still makes one mean racket if you give the throttle a twist.

About the baffle...
This will give you more noise and maybe a little gain in horsepower. My dealer said it can't do any harm. It's just up to you to decide if you want the extra decibels,1-2hp extra (maybe) and maybe some more unwanted attention from cops, rangers etc...

thanks for that i assume you left yours in then??...yeah its the original black muffler which the paint has faded and gone patchy...has yours done this???
Also have you worked out a way of getting the air cleaner in/out without needing to dislocate both wrists, turn yourself upside down and swear a lot?? what were they thinking when they designed that??

remove the left and side airbox cover and put filter in from that side

My silencer still looks good, that's because my bike gets cleaned a lot and i hate to leave it dirty after a ride. The baffles are still inside and i don't feel the need to ride without them. Changing/cleaning airfilter was a pain in the ass the first times, but now i'm used to it, it's a one beer job. It's also one of the very rare ocassions i'm glad to have small hands :), so i don't have to dislocate my hands to get the job done ;)

ha ha yeah im looking to modify the battery support so it can swing up out of the way.

my bike is always kept spotless after a ride as well the colour has gone patchy on the muffler but the clear coat is still in perfect condition...weird!! i have sanded it back to repaint in matt black
