cracked case
 

My 03 300 had developed a ticking noise somewhere in the engine that I could hear at idle,turns out I found a small crack (about 1 inch) at the top of the reed housing:eek:.I wonder how this happened?I guess I can put some JB weld on it and call it good?Any other suggestions?Thanks.

JB weld should do it. I used it on a clutch cover hole for years.

Sounds like where the cases go together and the gasket is gone in that area. If so and if were mine I would replace the center case gasket.

You are right,there is gasket material sticking out,there appears to be no seam there,I will look closer today and get a pic.Thanks.
