I'd like to know more about the black Sprinter. It looks like a self made camper. I have been thinking about changing over to one, from my Westfalia.

We didn't make it all the way to your neck of the woods, but were up in Shelton last weekend for the Ridge - what a frickin' awesome track.

Just give me a heads-up when you want to come down here and we'll hit the woods - need to wait until late September or early October given trail closures :(

Anyway, my buddy has spent a ton of time getting his camp van sorted. It's not actually a Sprinter, but the Ram 1500 version. He's done an amazing job - was bare bones w/o windows and he's made it into something supremely cool. Solar on top, can haul 3-4 bikes, removable sleeper-sofa, platform bed above the bikes, and all kinds of cool bits here and there (LED lighting, USB chargers in the wall, etc). Send me your email address via PM and I'll get you in touch with him. He's always eager to talk about his van...lol.

If you have some time to waste, here's a bunch of video :D If you want to see a couple of the hairball trails, check 7th and 8th links (Spiny Ridge). The 3rd through 5th links are one of the trails the folks just re-did - cool section of single track that reminds me of Yozoo in Gifford (Odin's Ridge).

Fun ride..

Great area to ride, I lived in Beaverton in the late 80's - mid 90's and loved riding that area. Rode a KX500 back then, yikes, youth LOL.. I need to come over and steal you for a guide sometime next spring.

Wow, nothing like a big bang 2T for the tight stuff...LOL. I bet that was a handful on the trails Tillamook offers, can't imaging trying to manage that beast when she hit the power band.

Definitely give me a heads-up and we'll get out there for a day of fun; plenty of variety to keep you busy :D :D

Yeah, I was in my late 20's, 6'1 195 lbs and in excel condition. It was actually a great bike with the power valve and motor tuned right, just rode 3rd gear all day. lol I'd try to avoid super tech stuff like spinney ridge but that's about it. When is the latest you are normally riding, it's got to be getting sloppy already I'd think.. I plan to head out somewhere in a couple weeks to ride but was thinking it would be too late to head that way, what's your thoughts??

As long as there isn't snow in the coast range and we're not experiencing any monsoon like conditions (lol), I ride all year. I try to avoid any of the crazy uphill stuff if it's really wet, but there's still plenty of fun to have if the rains haven't been constant.

Generally speaking, the coast range is a safe bet for riding through December. We might get some snow here and there, but the trails are usually good if things don't freeze.

It's definitely not too late to head this way if you want to get some fun TSF riding in. I know the weekend of Oct 16th is booked, but don't think we have too much on the calendar for the following weekends (aside from Halloween with our boys).

Let me know when you're thinking and I'll do my best to clear the calendar. I doubt I'll be able to get out the weekend of Oct 23rd as I'm planning to be in Gifford Pinchot for a few days the weekend prior. Maybe shoot for the first weekend in November?

Cool, I'll catch ya in the spring likely, I'm taking the week of the 25th off. Probably head to the desert, grew up in AZ and still like to do a ride down there every year. Keeps my ass full of cactus thorns. lol. If your calendar clears the weekend of the 24th or 31st let me know I am free to head whatever direction the wind blows. I have some people I'd like to visit in the Sea/Tac area.

Sounds good man, it's looking like the Giff next weekend is a go, which means getting out the following weekend or Halloween weekend isn't likely.

If you hit AZ, have a safe trip and keep those cacti out of your arse...LOL. It'll be fun to hook up in the spring
