Power valve GasGas EC 125

1 Attachment(s)
Hello, I wonder how my gasgas ec 125 06 would peform if my powervalve would be fully open all the time. Is there some way that I can test that? I don't know if my powervalve is set right on my gasgas. Is there some way that I can see if it works as it should?

Thanks

You can open the side cover where the rod is and start the engine. When raving it up you should see how it works.

How long since the power valve has come apart and been cleaned? They do gum up over time.

I dont really know. I have never done it on the bike but the owner before me did a rebuild on the engine so he problebly have done it. I’m going to do a piston change soon so then I can take the hole powervalve apart and clean. Thank you for your help.

If you keep it open all the time it will have very little low rpm torque and will likely bog when you hit it from low rpm.

If the powervalve is stuck open you'll see it when you take the cover off. The bike will run like and old school 100 in that it is all topend power.

Conversely if it is stuck close it won't wind out beyond the mid range.

FYI the 06 runs a YZ125 setup for powervalves so parts are easy to get.

If you don't mind could you tell me what jetting you are running? I'm having a devil of a time getting mine sorted and it looks like we are running the same pipes (Messick).

Here in Germany I run the following jetting

Main jet 185 - 195
Pilot jet 45 - 50
Needle NOZI
Slide 7 and 9
Position #2
Air screw 2-2,5 open

The lower numbers are for summer, the higher for winter

Thanks mine is very similar but still get a burble down low and a drool coming out of the silencer.

I'm going to give the KX125 36mm PWK carb a try and slip on a Noleen YZ125 pipe to see if we can get more mid range out of it. It's a woods bike so it's a lot of fun to hold it wide open but some more grunt is needed for the more tricky terrain we ride here in New England.
