Lost a tooth...
I drained the oil out of my 125xc today - winterizing a year late - and found a gear tooth stuck to the magnetic drain plug. Ooh - hate when that happens.
A couple of years ago, the waterpump shaft snapped in the bike, causing the waterpump innards to fly apart, with the engine side innards getting sucked into the primary drive - caused a fair amount of broken stuff, including shattering the waterpump drive gear. Of course, I didn't notice anything until the bike overheated and seized. Unfortunately, I don't exactly remember if I found all the pieces of the shattered waterpump gear. I couldn't even get a new primary drive gear, so I had to rebuild the broken teeth on mine with welds and grinder (still going strong) I do seem to have a vague memory of not being able to find one of the teeth... http://farm2.staticflickr.com/1236/1...2_z_d.jpg?zz=1 The gear tooth I found is skinny, maybe 1/8", so it's surely a waterpump or powervalve drive gear. Sure hope it is a long-missing piece that finally made it's way out. Everything else seems fine with the bike... JayC |

Well, those gears are on the primary side so its an easy inspection with just the primary cover removed.

When I read the title of this thread, I thought it was about the killer kickstand again.
