Don't follow me

I have a 2003 EC250 it runs great as far as I can tell it always starts right up, hasn't fouled a plug in the 3 months I've had it. It has gobs of power that does sign off kind if early but it has a Gnarly pipe on it and I read those do not rev out well. My issue is if you are riding behind me there is oil splatters all over the front of the bike. There is also an excessive amount of oil dripping from the end of the exhaust. I try to mix at 50:1 the only carb adjustment is turn the idle screw up. It starts and runs do good I don't want to mess with the carb if I don't have to. Any tips or ideas would be helpful .

Make sure you shut the fuel valve off when you get done riding. If your carb is flooding it will fill your crankcase up with fuel and blow all sorts of nasty black spooge out until it gets cleaned out.

What 2stroke oil are you using? If it has a high flash point and you aren't riding hard that could explain some of it.

Amsoil dominator, that could be the case. It is street legal and on the roads I don't get on it much to keep the noise and front wheel down. Also on the trail someone is using my other bike which is a tw200 so speed is kept pretty tame.

Looks like amsoil dominator is a pretty low flashpoint so can't be that. How about transmission oil, do you notice any disappearing?

I will check next time I'm at my cabin where the bike is.

Dominator is high flash point. There is a good chance that can be part of it. I wonder if you are in a rich carb condition. Jetting is super easy on these bikes. You can change the pilot and main and needle without taking the carb off. Just unscrew cap and loosen boots. Twist carb bowl towards you and service. Simple and cheap jets cost less than $10 each and even though it runs nice it probably needs it done. Not sure where that chart came from but the flash point for interceptor is way wrong. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/24/u5avubuv.jpg

As with the dominator facts...http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/24/y8atazyt.jpg

A friend of mine had a '99 KTM 300 that would splatter the rider behind him. I would always leave a good distance not to get all the black spots. Problem went away when he sold the bike :D

When was the last time you packed your silencer?

Put a down turn on the silencer outlet

1RobAusdemore 07-24-2014 06:44 PM

I have not packed it in the 3 months I've had it.
