I found it. 2000- EC 300 Like New

Ok guys I found a 2000 300 that has been stored the last two years. It has only been ridden 15 or so times and looks brand new. It has a carbon fiber skid plate and pipe gaurd. New Top Clamp and handle bar riser with Pro Tapers and Bark Busters. Olins shock and Standard Marazochi forks. It was drainned of fuel and had the cylinder oiled. It has been kicked over every few months to keep it lubed. I will only be trail ridding with my son and maybe a few enduros after I get my feet wet again. I used to race enduros and hare scrambles in the late 70's and early 80's

I have a few questions from you guys who know these bikes.

Should I be worried about the cylinder flaking or anything major ?

Who has heavyer fork springs available as I am 250 ?

How much is it to have a cylinder rechromed ?

How much is a new top end ?

Thanks, JC

If the past owner did everything he said to the bike the cylinder should be fine.

My biggest concern would be the carb. It probably needs a good cleaning and possibly a LTR jetting kit (around $36) to clean up the jetting.

It always scares me a little when people say they drained the fuel. It can be a little hard on the needle and seat if it was dry. Hopefully they used fuel stabalizer other wise consider having a shop do a high frequency sconic cleaning, around $60.

I doubt if the bike would need a complete top end but you might want to consider a set of rings, wrist pin bearing to a least give yourself a fresh starting point. A set of rings, wrist pin bearing and gaskets for a OEM Wiseco piston around $60.

When its time a complete OEM Wiseco piston, rings etc. would cost around around $170. A complete Vertex piston, rings etc around $140.

If it it were me I would at least drain and replace the fork oil and transmission oil, around $15 to $20.

You might want to consider inspecting and re-greasing all of the wheel and suspension bearings and replacing the appropriate seals.

2000

The Bike is $2000.
I have heard of bearring problems in the 2000's so I will probally go for the 2004 that had the topend rebuilt recently for $2800.00

I think that 2000 looks great. It probably has a counterbalancer ?
For $800 more I'd get the '04. You're getting an USD fork and will probably find parts easier for it.

$2000 is too high for a 2000 bike with few mods. My 2001 GG is fully loaded and I'm asking $2200.
