Dual Map Switch on Ec2008

I have a new ec250 2008 model and I see no difference when switching from rain to sun mode. Is this normal for the 250's as stated elsewhere in this Forum, as the switch mainly affects the 300's.

Anyway, I'm pleased by the motor's performance as is.

Are you sure it is connected?

Its much more subtle on the 250, and also is affected a lot by jetting. I havn't tried it, but I suspect that if you retarded the static timing a hair you would feel more of a difference.

Hi!

I feel it on the 07 ec250. It makes the bike track better through slippery rocks (especially if you are in a hurry...). Also if the bike is lean on the sunny mode, it will be much leaner on the rain mode. A good small test to see if you run lean on not.

Why?
I don't understand this.

The difference between rain and sun on my '05 EC300 was very small. I found it came on the pipe a little earlier and quicker, but only slightly. After putting the cut head on the bike along with the CCK needle, the difference between the rain and sun ignition settings is definitely noticeable.

G'day, could you tell us more about the cck needle and cut head?
I have just purchased an 07 Ec300 and would be interested in any performance mods.
Cheers Wence

Dunno about the cut head but I ran a CCK on my 300 and it was beautifully smooth. Much better than the N1EF series.

Amen to that.

Any of the 300s I sell I set them up with 178 main jet, #7 slide (stock) CCK needle clip 2 from top and a 42 pilot. The CCK works great on the 250s too. I jet the 250s with 40 pilot, 180 main, CCK clip 2 from top and #7 slide (stock slide).

Makes the bike real smooth, torquey and controllable with a ripping top end. The N1EF needle is too abrupt for the average rider especially when riding tight slippy woods/tracks.

At first I didn't think that the Map switch made much of a difference, but after riding some of the same trails back to back I can feel it for sure. The rain mode keeps the rear wheel from breaking loose and it seems to find better traction when riding agressively. I keep it in the rain mode all the time now. It really helps on slippery hills. This is on a 06 ec250.
