2011 GasGas SixDays EC250 - Piston Kit

I am looking to put a new piston kit into my 2011 EC250. I have owned the bike since new and I really like it. When new I ordered the parts that I needed to get it setup and haven't really needed much since. I checked my cylinder and I have a "B" piston in it.

Previously I have used Halls Cycles/AOMC/Langs Offroad/GoFasters in the past, but when searching for a kit today I am shocked by the OEM prices.

GasGas manual and says the 250 piston is part number - ME25616020R

Here is the search on Halls Cycles ($409.25) - https://halls-cycles.stores.dealersp...rd=ME25616020R

When I search ktm-parts it tells me that the piston has been superseded - https://www.ktm-parts.com/mm5/mercha...&q=ME25616020R

Here is the Vertex Piston Kit from ktm-parts ($149.95) - https://www.ktm-parts.com/09102553.html

Decided to find a new source for parts and did some searching on the forum and found GasGas Parts Guy's. Price is still crazy ($300.56) - http://partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche....CLINDER%20HEAD

I also did some searches on ebay and found North Tahoe Motorsports ($219) - https://www.ebay.com/itm/TOP-END-GAS...19.m1438.l2649

My gut tells me to order the Wossner Forged Piston Kit (Includes Piston/Rings/Circlips/Pin/Gaskets/Wrist Pin) from North Tahoe Motorsports, but I normally stick with OEM parts. Is the pricing messed up on the gasgas parts websites?

I would like to hear from the experts on the way to proceed. Are there other GasGas dealers that I should be searching?

No expert here...

but my experience has been that the OEM vertex cast pistons start to get a bit of rattle/skirt rocking in bore around 65-75hrs, while the Wossners hold up better.

Last slug I bought on clearance from Australian distributer was ME25616121R. I still have it in a box, and it retailed at AUD 181.00, and contained piston, rings, clips.. gaskets and little end are separate. I picked it up for half price otherwise would have gone Wossner again.

In the past I've bought from Niks Industries (https://www.niksindustries.com/searc...keywords=8052D). Used to be about $30USD cheaper than their current listed price. Wossner comes with piston, rings, clips. Again, little end and gaskets separate.

GasGas manual and says the 250 piston is part number - ME25616020R This is for an A Piston Kit

When I search ktm-parts it tells me that the piston has been superseded - It shows as OEM A Kit on their site: https://www.ktm-parts.com/ME25616020R.html at $236USD
Here is the Vertex Piston Kit from ktm-parts ($149.95)

OEM B Kit is 5B. PISTON B 250
MPN: ME25616121R

Wossner Piston Kit - 66.34mm - 8052DB

The Wossner is cheaper and stronger. Easy choice.

Just need to weigh up if it's easier to get north Tahoe to supply all the gaskets and little end for you or if you can find them elsewhere for a good price. I tend to carry a lot of spare gaskets etc already so not needed for me.

North Tahoe is great to deal with no worries there.
Matto's partsguy also has Athena and Wossner at decent prices.

Some OEM parts are just priced too high.

The dealer pricing for piston kits is CRAZY especially when you look at the Motocrosscenter prices for the same items. It is very frustrating that the US has been blocked from purchasing from them!

I have not used the Vortex but have had good luck with both Wiseco and Wossner. It is hard to beat the ebay pricing.

I appreciate the responses. My bike has 73 hours on it and it runs well. I think it is time to replace piston/rings so I can get another 75 hours out of it.

Based on the feedback I will order the Wossner kit.

I got fast service and the best price by far from Nik's Industries on the Wossner Kit.

I also found a Athena kit on Ebay for real cheap so I picked that up too. The Athena kit turned out to be a reboxed Wossner kit.

The bike is a '01 XC 200.
