6th, the camera makes me look better! :D Still tweaking on the suspension, getting closer though

I was going to ask how the suspension work went. Looks like you got your shock back in time too! Did they do any valving? I'm having them take a little high speed compression damping out of mine. I feel its too stiff when hitting the square edges unless hauling ass. Especially if the forks take the first impact and then the rear hits. Lifting the front over and soaking entirely with the rear end feels better. Makes sense in my head.

I also just had my first time into a shock (46mm KYB). Really not much to them and can see why others say its easier than forks. There is a bit of a knack to getting those internal circlips out though. Mastered the art in the end without gouging anything up which is good. Finger tips feel like they've had a workout! haha! I'm yet to reassemble it. Have replaced all the seals and lubed the seal head. Just need to get some oil and then take my time bleeding it properly.

Congratulations on the 6th place! I thought pics always made people look worse :D

They did do some valving on both ends, still working with it as far as clicker settings, got one good session on it before Sun and still needs some work. I did get ride a friend's KTM that is setup really nice so I have a benchmark to shoot for. Loved his suspension action but didn't like the bike at all. He admitted after the switch that my bike was like riding a deer and his was more like a cow. I'd rather ride mine even with the suspension like it is. First katoom I had ridden since 91???
I've several older KYB shocks apart when I was installing Race Tech kits in the mid 90s, I bet they've changed a bit

Who knows. This one was off a 2004 WR250F. Pretty straight forward.

What suspension was on your mates pumpkin? The WP OC,CC, or the newest ones? My mates berg with the CC forks feels so plush in comparison. Its almost like the TTX still lets you feel what the bike is doing, without beating you up. The WP almost felt too much like riding a cloud to me. I like to have some feedback.

I'm pretty sure it was WP I know it is PDS system-no link, it's on a 2008 300XC-W and it has been revalved by a local guy who also rides one. It was way smoother than mine as it was, you couldn't even feel the trail trash, it was like riding it on a carpet. The little rocks & sticks just didn't transmit thru to me. I'm shooting for that feeling in mine. I just keep clicking..... Do you remember your clicker settings? i may not be smart enough to get mine set, sometimes I'm not sure if it is to soft and blowing thru to bottom or it's to stiff and that is where my spikes are coming from... i've been going stiffer with damping and I think (???) it is better

My forks have been good. They are quite firm on the stand but I think stiction is to blame there, particularly when cold. I am using stock 2011 valving/shim stacks as supplied by Ohlins. They have fantastic bottoming resistance. Hold themselves up well in the stroke, and soak up the small stuff effortlessly. It took a few goes for me to get the height in the triple clamps right as it would push a bit in corners. I tried tinkering with the rebound and also the comp a few times but keep coming back to 13 for each. The front it set up with just enough rebound damping to stop it popping back up after a large jump. The compression just where it feels right. If I go softer it wallows on heavy landings and feels scary. Going stiffer it begins to push in corners.
