Chain tension

How tight or slack do you keep your chain at and where do you like to measure at.

I lift the chain just behind the top of the slider for a 50-55mm gap.

For my '14 the manual says to put the bike on the side stand and measure at the end of the chain guide, slack should be between 35 and 60 mm.

I noticed in the Manuel it says 30 to 60 I just thought 30-40 was to tight

Run it where you feel comfortable.

Other option is that next time you have the shock out, pop the linkage back together and run the swingarm through its stroke and take note of where the chain is tightest. Mark and measure in a specific area for your own records and you'll know what works best.

I just stick 3 fingers between the swingarm and slider at the rear. I find my chain is usually a bit on the slacker side.

That's with the bike on a shop stand.

Thanks that's where I set it at

When its a bit slack you'll get a bit of chattering/chain slap when rolling on at small throttle openings in higher gears.. but I've never let that worry me. I'd rather be a bit loose than too tight.
