MotoSeat Covers Available for 12s and 13s

We've been working with the folks at MotoSeat to come up with attractive and durable covers for the 2012 and 2013 Gassers. My knee braces had chewed at the left side of the stock cover, so it was time for something different.

The first one arrived today and I'm impressed by its appearance and construction. We'll have them available in multi-color (as shown) or basic black, with three panel construction for multis or a single cut for black. Gripper material is tough and grippy, although regular vinyl can be substituted on the top or sides if desired. The stitching exhibits the smallest amount of waviness, but its still alot straighter than I can ride.

http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/...SC01067cut.jpg

The logo is placed to allow for seat mounting from the top or bottom. There is no bunching or sagging - I was assured that would be the case because of the bias of the material.

http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/...t/DSC01061.jpg

The red gripper on the sides is pretty close in color to the GasGas upper shroud plastic in 2012, but may look even better when contrasted against the white in 2013. Another option would be to swap the black top and red sides.

The covers are $55 delivered anywhere in the Continental US, or slightly more to international addresses. PM me to order.

Will there be enough material to cover a tall seat foam?

twowheels 01-26-2013 09:53 AM

We could get you an untrimmed cover, but at this point they haven't been tested with tall foam.

WOW!!! The seat cover turned out really nice! Looks great!

I just need to get mine installed. I went all black gripped.

robszombie 01-26-2013 08:05 PM

I like the snow in the background. Wish we had some. Just rain, rain & more rain. If it ain't raining then it's just plain wet! Nice seat covers, will keep you in mind.

The snow was a tip of the hat to our Nordic friends and I wanted to show the Arizona guys what it looks like too - they've been complaining about having to run the A/C all week.

Gripper covers are good in the rain :D

GMP 01-26-2013 09:54 PM

I long for the days of A/C, its been low teens/single digits here for a week, lake is a foot thick ice by my yard.

Looks nice Steve. I think the '12/'13 seats are particularly vulnerable to cover wear due to the way they overlap the plastic and expose the edge, rather than meet it flush. The tougher the cover the better here.

ScottyR 01-26-2013 11:20 PM

Thats a great deal.

Here is a few of my all black gripper cover.

If a guy wants to add some bling you could order it black with red pleats or vise a versa......In my case yellow pleats.

swazi_matt 01-29-2013 12:44 AM

Someone would have to send them a seat for the mock-up. I'll see if I can round up a unit to send in, but we went from -20F to 45F in just a couple days, and most seats will be occupied ;)

swazi_matt 01-29-2013 01:34 AM

nice! i sweated buckets on Sunday, but nice to be on the bike again, and all still fine except for a PV rattle that i will try to sort out this week

No rush on the seat I was just curious

GMP 01-29-2013 12:33 PM

Steve,

Can they be had in all black, one piece with no stitching? Like on Rick's bike only for a '12.

twowheels 01-29-2013 12:40 PM

Glenn: They can be bought all-black single-piece or with panels, color combos with panels, or single-piece, single color. PM me with what you'd like.

singletracker 01-29-2013 06:10 PM

Now for your next trick, how about a complete seat with standard height soft foam????

It sounds like Guts "standard" foam is softer than stock. MotoSeat covers for 2007-2011 bikes are in the works and should be available in about two weeks' time.

GMP 02-01-2013 09:57 PM

Not much foam on the seat, too soft and you will start feeling the base.

desertgasser300 02-01-2013 10:23 PM

I'm holding out for cover with Arctic white sides and a gasgas red down the middle.

twowheels 02-01-2013 11:53 PM

We can do that - now send me the money :D:D:D

What about the EE standard height soft seat foam?

GMP 02-03-2013 09:59 AM

I like the stock seat foam, but thats JMO and every a$$ is different.:) I think when a seat is cut on the top with angles like the GG, harder foam is no problem. My '07 by comparison was a hard conventional shape and was tough, replaced that with softer '08 seat.

Finally finished install of the new seat cover I got from Steve (aka - twowheels)
Made by MotoSeat
Color is all Black and is one piece.

My only modification was to put a small hole in the cover so that I can now install/remove seat from the top...... Yeah Baby !!!

For install I recommend using an Air Stapler Gun. I got mine from Harbor Frt for $25 (good news is that the stapler did not break yet......)

Seat looks good! I agree that air/electrical stapler is the way to go. I would have been planning a seat cover if I was able to cut foam down...but since I don't think there is room. I will wait until it rips.

socalgasgas 03-19-2013 11:28 AM

Nice work. It looks great. What size staples do you use?

I mainly used both 5/16" and 1/4" staples. I am not a huge fan of Harbor Frt tools but I was surprised how well the stapler did work for this small project.

Originally I did try 1/4" staples in my hard hitting roof felt stapler and it was not cutting it for me. The air gun stapler put the staples in with no issues at all.

On a side note if anyone is interested in converting the seat bolt connection from inside the fender to what I did I would be happy to share. It was super easy!!!

UDAWGU 03-27-2013 02:43 PM

Tried to order from MotoSeat but they were not familiar with GasGas and did not know if they had a template available. I have a 13 EC300 and wish to replace the stock seat cover with the red over black nonskid cover that you show in your post. If you can facilitate this process please let me know what the next step would be. Thanks

Was there any change in design from 12 to 13 apart from the seat bolt , is it a little lower

The seat height difference 'on-bike' is due to different length pull rods on the suspension linkage - the seat foam is the same thick(thin) ness.

adv rider 04-02-2013 01:34 AM

11' seatcover

Yes, I am wondering if the 2011 is much diff than the 12-13' model. I really would like a two tone red/black with the pleats like the motocrossers use.

sign me up if they are available somewhere :)

Here is what I did to modify my 2012 for the top mount seat bolt.

No means is it the best way but it has worked for me so far. I purchased a Metric Pronged Tee Nut like this.

http://i1229.photobucket.com/albums/...ps83e642a7.jpg

I then heated it rather hot with heat gun and also got the plastic area on the fender warm but not too hot to melt it. Once the Tee Nut was nice and hot I pressed it slowly down into the plastic black fender hole... After it cooled I then put a nice coat of epoxy as a secondary bond.

http://i1229.photobucket.com/albums/...pse146c15e.jpg

I then purchased this kit from motocrosscenter. In Reality you would not need this kit and could come up with your own at the hardware store.

http://www.motocrosscenter.com/ecomm...oducts_id=8583

(This kit includes the bolt, red anodized washer, and a plastic black washer that holds the bolt in place when the seat is removed)

Here is another photo.
