36mm AS2

How rare are these carbs. I have one on my 2011 ec250. I have been trying to do as much research as I can on jetting, but there ain?t much for the 36mm on a 250. Any ideas? Pros and cons on the smaller carb? I?d jetting characteristics that different as far as strategy? Thanks guys.

Not rare per se but kind of rare on Gassers of the era from what I've seen/read.

Benefits are improved throttle response and low end torque over a larger carb. Only negative, IMO, is you can lose some horsepower but that's normally not a big deal as most of us can't use all the power that any modern enduro bike has.

As for jetting, it will tend to be smaller on the main than on a 38mm carb as the intake velocity is greater which in turn pulls more fuel up through it.

That would explain why I thought my jetting was lean on the main jet at 165. Also why I haven?t seen any reference to the needle that?s in the carb (CGJ). It seems that most everyone that posts has a 38mm carb. Having read through a lot of the database I really couldn?t find much on the 36mm jetting and a 250. Thanks for the info, learning something everyday.

Ranger is 36mm

The Rangers have a stock PWK 36mm and SmartCarb sells a 36mm carb as well.

I actually have a 36mm Smartcarb on my shelf.

If it was me. I would spend a little more time with the SmartCarb.

I know, I need to. Just a little put out at the moment.

They must be good, $749.00. I think the design is very efficient and easy to set up.

I got a Black Friday deal at $699 I think it was. Easy install, but not so easy setup (for me). Never could get a low idle (sub 2600rpm). Float height issue, since it has to be tilted to miss the chain. After weeks of frustration I?m trying to learn the ins and outs of jetting. I don?t really need to, as my bike runs great. I just can?t help but want to tinker.
