Pampera 450 Misses at 3000-4500 rpm

Hi guys

I live in Australia and recently took owenership of a clean, low kms, Pampera 450. The bike is great condition apart from one major issue.

The bike runs chronically bad in the 3000-4500 rev range. It runs a Dellorto PHF36.

One repairer first claimed a dodgy ignition coil and then claimed to have cleaned out the carb, but when I got the bike back it ran worse.

Any ideas or advice would be GREATLY appreciated. I am reasonable on the tools and am contemplating taking the carb apart myself.

kind regards,

Tim Grech.

PS. I am not very 'forum savvy' so forgive me while I learn!

Bike fixed!

Thanks for the flood of responses! (In Australia, we call this sarcasm...)

Actually searched and researched this forum, found a bloke in the same state as me with the same issue. Needle clip. Fixed the bike tonight in 41c heat and she now runs like a clock.

If anyone else with a similar issue comes along, and it is a Dellorto carb, please check your needle clip. Mine was not even fastened properly! Anyway, am as happy as a pig in poop now.

Thanks for the forum.

Gassy Out.

Hiya Tim,

Not sure why you got zero response. But glad you got your bike running great, AND learned a little yourself into the bargain !

Satisfying now isnt it ;)

Get some pics of your bike / riding areas up too. We all love piccies........

Thanks mate

Hi there,

Thanks for your response. In fairness, I only gave the forum 24hrs for responses.... Anyway, appreciate your encouragement.

Will post some pics very soon. Hoping to ride the 450 this weekend, so will take some snaps of both the bike and some scenery. I tend to ride in an area called the Wombat State Forest, as my family has a cabin there.

I will also be able to test some basic "new owner" stuff like fuel range, as I am a bit worried that it will be a tad limited.

Again, thanks for your message, Seven.
