'05 450 FSE Oil Change...
 

Hey 'lo!

I'm struggling to add the 1.8liter of oil to my 450 after changing the oil. Just picked the bike up and wanted to get fresh oil in it. Drained the oil, replaced the plug in the engine case and the frame sump. Then tried to add oil to the dip stick location.

I can only add about 1Liter of oil.

I removed the hose connecting the frame sump to the engine and verified that there's no blockage between the sump and the engine.

Anyone have the tips on how to add the correct amount of oil?

Where do you get the informaton to add 1.8 litres? :eek:
In the manual it says 1.2....and usually i get only 1 litre in....

I was given the '04 manual, not the '05. I've since downloaded the correct manual and see that it is 1.2L not 1.8. The '04 was 1.8.

Welcome to the club....i'm also mechanical engineer and to be honest i also don't know excactly how dry sump works...but hey...thats why we are here!
I know what you feel about the GasGas....when my FSE450 '05 engine blew i was also thinking why the hell did i have to buy it but i kinda like it now....it has it's especialness. Don't worry and accept the GasGas :D
