Air Filter damage
 

Changed the air filter last night and got suprised by some chunks missing. It's on the outside and not all the way through. No cables or anything rubbing. Any Ideas what would eat away at this filter? On 2012 ec300 notoil filter and oil.

I've had that happen before. But no not here, it looks similar though.

I had used the twin air bio cleaner (powder type) and that stuff ate one filter.
It helps if you read the directions. mix formula THEN submerge filter. LOL

Haha I bet! This was a brand new No-toil filter with thier oil, instructions followed. Looks like sumthing rubbed it but I dont see how.

I think I've nicked mine a couple of times pulling it out of the bike by catching it on something like maybe the starter relay or a zip ty or something.

I'll check out my process tonight. Here it is.

had my bucket seats in my track car scoffed on once when leaving it in a garage. little buggers ruined em but I bet his nest was nice and soft lol

My old kdx wouldn't start one fall. Checked it out and when I got to the air flilter the air box was completely full of dog food. Parked my bike next to were the food was stored and found the buggers winter stash! He went in through the snorkle and didn't hurt anything. He also nibbled on the filter some.

Is it a e-start model? Had a brand new 13 that ate up 2 filters before we figured out that the battery was leaking acid onto the filter.
