0-60 time EC300..?

Just out of interest anyone know the 0-60 times of the EC300 I would guess less than 4 seconds.

Power/weight for bike is about 50hp/100kg 0.5hp/kg (metric)

A Yamaha R6 has about 100hp/170kg = 0.58 and that has a 0-60 2.8-3.1 seconds...

We would have a lot more gears to get through but that should help accelerate quicker though the time taken for the gear changes may negate this effect...

I doubt it, way to optimistic. every upshift is going to add extra time and there's going to be lots of them to get to 60 mph.

If I wasn't so lazy I'd spoon some dual sport tires on my 06 300. Put on the biggest front sprocket and smallest rear sprocket I could find and go hit street night at the local drag strip just to find out what it would do on a 1/4 mile. .... someday ... maybe....

I bet you'd be surprised how much longer its 0-60 would be than the R 6's. it would crush it in the woods, tho.

Even if the R6 had knobblies?

The power to weight ratio won't be nearly as close when you add in the weight of the rider. On the other hand the 300 has much lower standard gearing than a R6 which would help it in a drag race to only 60mph. Lastly the R6 would only have to shift once where as the 300 would need 3 or 4 gear shifts to reach 60.

We all know the R6 would win in a drag race but I think most people would be surprised at how well the 300 would do.

Line a 300 up in the dirt against the R6 on pavement. It would be interesting.

That would make a good u tube video. Dont know anyone with a R6 though.

I do think it may be possible via the recording 'track back' function on my Garmin GPS though not 100% on this though and my bike is certainly not tuned for power though it did seem to diapstch most 400-450's in a race last year.

I have ran mine in the 1/4 mile. It ran at best a 13.86 @ 92. With 12/40 gearing. In stock form it ran a best of 14.39 @82. 0 to 60 in 4 seconds is more than likely. Even with high gearing starting in second gear yielded the best results. 15/48 would work fine for 1/4 mile passes. I tried 13/40 but the bike wouldn't pull it in the 1/4. You really don't need street tires the lunch pads are very sticky.

During the Dirt Rider torture test last month the GasGas EC300 beat all other two-stroke dirt bikes handsdown in the up hill acceleration test.

The test was run slightly uphill over a distance of an 1/8th of a mile.

The results should be available on line at dirtrider.com fairly soon.

All times and speeds will be shown on a graf with actual miles per hour displayed in height compared to elapsed time displayed in length.

The graf even showes the "flat spot" when the bike was being shifted.
