2013 300EC bendix
2 Attachment(s)
Hello,
Electric starter on my bike stopped working. I removed the cover and discovered that bendix doesn't "fly" out like it supposed to do. Cleaned and lubed it, but nothing. I discovered that the shaft rotates in the large gear wheel. Doesn't it have to be there tightly? Best regards Kaarel |
Yep it is supposed to be a press fit. You need a new bendix. I have tried in the past to tig weld them with some success.

Yep, I?ve had success with the mig when mine spun itself in two years ago.

Had exactly the same happen on a 300 KTM 2T. Had to be replaced.

Hi
There is a bendix that fits Top of my head its smu5004 but I'll check Monday Had problems on my 13 But cured them with mods on this site Now my battery appears to lack power to spin up bendix to start. Hooked up jump start to battery and all good. Note - have dedicated neg wire from battery to starter motor. Time for new battery ? If so , lead acid or lithium? |
Beware of the 220CCA SSB Lithiums with the LED Display on the top.
|
I welded it with TIG and it seems to work nicely. Thanks!

Unfortunately the welding lasted for 2 rides and now the shaft rotates again. The most problematic is that the manufacturer's warehouse is out of stock. Does this SMU5004 fit 1:1?
