17 ec300 crossover info?

Hi, new to the forum. I just got a new ec300. Been on Yamaha for the past decade or so. I've never had a bike that was hard to get parts for. So far I love the bike, but can't find parts.

My question is....

Are there parts I can get from older models or other bikes.

Interested in rad guards, radiators, plastics, brake pads, you know stuff that im gonna break.

Thanks for any info

Welcome!

As you are in the US, I would take a look at this thread:

I guess that should solve all your part woes in a click or two :)

Congrats on the new ride!

Parts aren't hard to get if you look in the right place.
Matto's cycle has about anything you might need in stock, give them a call.

So, pretty much no aftermarket products then?

If you do some referencing on the gas gas web site the exploded view manuals have part numbers, so for example 2017 front brake pads are same part number as many other years ( I checked 2011) We know EBC and others make brake pads that fit . So with some research I think you will find some aftermarket parts. Check Rocky Mountain or Dennis Kirk they have some years of gas gas listed

I believe that Gassers are built using aftermarket parts. Most everything is off the shelf parts, except the engine cases, frame, and swingarm. All bearings are easy to source, brake pads cross to other common sizes, YZ footpegs. I believe Polisport makes plastics, but I don't know who in the US is a dealer.

Regarding radiator guards, you will have to get bike specific, but I don't believe that GasGas sells those so you are looking aftermarket anyway. I know that lots of folks swear by the Chinese ebay radiators, and some KTM rads might fit (narrow selection of years and model, I believe). Sunstar makes sprockets (no common crossover on those), as stated EBC makes rotors, Nissin makes the brakes so you can use CR front brake levers and pads.

LOTS of aftermarket options if you look around a bit, but yes, somethings are just different enough to be a little bit of a challenge.

Enduro engineering makes radiator braces and Unabiker makes a full radiator guard. The rear sprocket is the same as the red Huskys. Brakes can be sourced from late model cr250's or you can call Budd Matto or Halls Cycles and have them in a day or so. Air Filters can be had from Twin Air or you can buy late model CR 250 air filters and make them work. I run DT-1 air filters from the older GasGas bikes and they work just fine also. Your dealer can get your plastics for you.

You do have to get a little creative if your looking for anything other than OEM but there is stuff out there. On the plus side these bikes are built like a tank and are great in stock trim so you really don't need much.

One other thing. The stock AJP clutch master cylinder has given a few of us problems. You can buy a rebuild kit from Matto or you can replace the whole thing with a 9.5mm 167 Magura unit. This will also allow you to buy aftermarket levers.

Regarding the levers, I'm using these for nissin brake and ajp clutch (very good quality for the money)
