KTM vs GG idle.

My friend bike, exc 300 2006 ,can idle very clean, pronounced, linear. Almost all gg I ever seen ,idle too low ,or too high. On KTM you can even count the numbers of explosions in ignition chamber. Is KTM engine more forgiving in squish area, lower number of mm? Can be distance between carb and ports? Better ports position?

Or is my funny english 😄

I know my EC250 idles lower than any other 2 stroke I've been around but I like it. It is a tractor and I don't want it stalling.

I know what you're talking about.. You can hear the nice distinct "Ding ding ding" from other bikes.. and mine just flutters along quietly. It only makes that sound when it's cold with the choke on for a few seconds and then starts dinging every other cycle or so once it's warm. I've been thinking maybe richer pilots would get me a better idle, but haven't been bothered yet.

With bigger pilot it's possible, theoretically, but I'm afraid to not falling down in rich side,I hate rich hesitation. Squish is the answer, someone ho did it can confirm or deny.

I have found that a large squich / low compression make it very jard to get a good consistent vacuuum signal at idle. This results in the idle floating around and being very sensitive to load, atmospheric pressure and temperature. So yes improving the squish will make it idle buch better.
