New GG EC300 Purchase + Questions?

3 Attachment(s)
Hey guys,

This will be my first GasGas. I had been looking for a 300 for quite a while and one popped up in my area for a great deal. It was purchased as a 2014 EC300. Hoping someone can verify this information as I am purchasing new plastics, graphics, seat cover, various bearings and seals, clutch master cylinder and front fork rebuild kit. Also, I am curious of the changes in years in regaurds to plastics. 2012-13 are their own specific style and then 14-17 is their own? Any information on the changes between the years would be great and any GasGas related things to watch out for this model would be appreciated. Here are some photos. Its winter here and with some TLC she will be looking amazing come spring VIN# VTRECH2C8CG400034

Those plastics look very similar to my 2012 model. Where the radiator shroud was in 2 pieces. Pretty sure that changed back to a single piece in 2013 so I dont think those plastics are what I would expect to be seeing on a 2014 model. They are also a different colour to the 2014 model.
Pretty sure they changed back to the aluminium subframe again on the 2013 bikes onwards whereas the 2012 model had a plastic subframe unless it was upgraded. Actually looking at the photos again it looks like it has the plastic subframe. So Im guessing its a 2012 model and not a 2014 model like you have been told..

Congratulations on your first Gasgas!

The 14 (at least the Racing model) had the Reiger rear shock. This one looks like Sachs. So my guess would be a 12 or 13. Or perhaps a non-racing 14?

The images show an aluminium part of the subframe right beneath the seat. I don't remember how the plastic subframe looked, but I would guess this is the alu subframe (so 13 then?).

On my 15 EC200 I have 2 piece shrouds, so that is no certain way of knowing.

Yep 12-17 all use the same 2 piece shroud..

However from the VIN the year identifier C equates to 2012. The frame with the adhesive on the sides is also a 12 special. The linkage is 2012 and the Ohlins 888 was only 12 and 13 models.

There were some changes from 12 to 13, and again from 14 onwards.

The shock mounting loop and the inboard break petal would indicate a 2012 w/ upgraded subframe.

Thank you so much for the information guys. It being a 12 doesnt make me upset the price was right. I just was more interested in making the right purchases when it comes to parts replacements and upgrades. The rear shock is a Ohlins.

Also, your clutch cover seems to be from an older model. Don't worry, that is actually a good ting, as the '12 had a plastic clutch cover nobody really fancied.

Thats great. So are we all in agreement that its a 2012? Now with the aluminum subframe did the rear fender and number plates change? Or will I be good ordering a 2012-13 Polisport plastic kit and 12-13 Graphics?
