How often do you change jetting?
Just wondering how often you guys change jetting for temps and such?
I ride same few areas around my house. 1000' up to 7000' elevations. And from damp, 5*c days to 32*c I know I am fat jetted, she runs good, and I mostly am single track/ old overgrown horse logging roads in the BC Rocky Mountians. I haven't changed my jetting, and know previous owner never changed for seasons or temps. SHe is a 98 ec250 with PWK 38. My idle sure does change with elevation and engine temp tho. And the idle stop screw is all the way in. I have to take carb out and record the needles one day. It's a 1998 EC250 But surely you guys are not taking carb out every day you ride to change? |
Ps. My present setting. Not sure if I should change anything?

What bike and what year is that? All the best, Dave. |
It's possible that you have an internal gasket failure in the carb.
You should not have to change your jetting that much. |

Sorry, forgot that. It's a 1998 EC250.. It runs great, no issues other than it smokes a lot (50:1 Interceptor) and plug always rich black. |
That n1ec is your smoking and rich black plug issue.

Depending on which 38mm keihin you have fitted it varies. If it is the old round screw cap style I liked the n3eg with a 42/45 and a 178/180 main.
If it is the later two screw cap I?d run the nedw with 42 and a 178. You might need a size either way for your altitude, but once you have it set nice you?ll rarely have to do much other than a tweak of the air screw. |
Cool thx, It's the older round screw AS1 carb I'll have to google the n3eg for a source.
