kickstart swap

Hey guys,
I just got back from a month in the hospital after some violent strokes. I'm doing OK now. I feel like a traitor, after parting out my XC300 I picked up an immaculate 2003 KTM200. Man is this bike tall compared to my Gassers I used to have. Anyway, I hated the KTM kickstarter and remembered the GasGas would fit. It works great, better than when it was on the GasGas. Who'd thunk that? Anyway, building back my strength slowly but I'm working on being back in business ( i just mean being normal again). Strokes really suck and you don't know you are having one until someone else notices you are slurring your words and not making sense. When I'm having one I feel normal, it is very strange, never thought I would have a stroke although I am in my 50s. Anyway I just thought I would check back in,

Glad to hear you are recovering.

My daughters have KTM 200s. For $85, i was able to buy a short (factory OEM) seat from KTM Hutt. With the lower seat, they were able to get the clearance they needed to better start the bike.

Having both bikes, I don't recall seeing any advantage to the GG kickstart lever on the KTM.

I hope that your recovery continues. Glad to have you back.

Blitz,
the kickstart swap works for me, my memory is shot, I don't remember what I didn't like about the KTM one. I don't need a short seat, I was just commenting on the KTM being slightly taller. After 10 years and 3 Gassers it will take me a little time to adjust. Hope to get back on a Gasser some day, this bike was too nice and inexpensive to pass up. Going from a 300 to a 200 should be an adjustment for me also.

I'm glad your on the mend to Jim. Thanks for all the help over the phone. Look forward to a progress report and a ride report when U get a chance. Bob.

Wow, glad your OK Jim. Thats frightening. Its great that you will still be able to ride, color is not important now.

The GG kicker: no oring, so it needs frequent greasing or it sticks, wears and gets sloppy. Biggest complaint was the old ones were too short.

Glenn,
I'm doing OK but I did total my truck and for medical reasons can't drive for the time being. The GG kickstarter was too short on my 300 but works welll on the orange 200, at least it does for me. That part is 10 years old and still works fine.
Regards,
Jim
