New Gas gas 450cc owner -metallic oil darn!!!!
Just purchased Road approved 2007 Gasgas 450 Pampera and now I know why it was way cheaper (around 50% less) than comparable KTM450 bikes in the market ...
Gutted as on the test ride the motor seemed to be run fine with no major noises ... was on a gravel road and didn't have time to really go for a long ride. Now after replacing oil and paper filter and checking metal screen far to many metal flakes copper to a grey metal with heaps of metallic dust/fine meta pieces ... to not be something major idle the motor hasn't any major noises ...underload I believe there is a deep knocking from either top-end or Big-end Connecting rod Power wise the bike runs well ...is what sold me think the donk was healthy ...NOW not sure what to do just got a new front tyre road reg >>> gutted I guess the only option outside just selling it off in parts is pull the motor out and try to work out where all the metal is coming from ... |
Where are you based? I have a 400 undergoing surgery:rolleyes:

my last bike was a two-stroke so use to muck quieter engine noise .. Engine Oil was very black old (useless previous owner !!!) have run an flushed using ATF trans field cleaned/replaced both filters ... will do another Oil change in 500kms see how the oil looks hoping for pretty clean I looked through the intake manifold and I see the opposite bore still had cross hatch bore makings so with only 6000kms on the clock pretty mint engine IMHO biggest pieces were gear alloys .. overall bike is running ... clocking up some time working on the Gasgas(Glad I'm not paying for it) .. Carb stripped and cleaned now running A32 needle clip down to midpoint- 136 main jet 38 idle jet.. Gearing no good for 100km/h road cruising so just fitted 46 rear to match the 14 front giving me 6.5% higher top speed over the 14/49 combo it ran.(should bring 100km/h revs down to just under 6,000rpm) just changing fork oil took out 750mls ... someone has played around with these stock conventional 45 Zorks ... nothing like the diagram ... twin springs 250mm plastic spacer at the top ? |
Hi, This sounds like the Pampera if it has carb and conventional forks?
