Scotts stabalizer
Just installed a Scotts damper on my 2011 Nambo and got out on 2 rides over the weekend. I have to say WOW !! This is definetely one of the best bolt on pieces I have ever put on a bike. I had never tried one before and will never own a bike without one again. AWESOME !!!!
Cheers.:D |
That's what most people say.
The real wow comes after you really get used to it and then jump on a bike without one. It'll scare you and you'll then truly wonder how you ever rode a bike without one. |
It saves me once a ride I reckon!

Out of curiosity what settings are you guys using?

I run the low speed out 8 to 12 clicks, and have the high speed sensitivity set at 1 turn out (.5 turn more sensitive, 1.5 is stock). This gives minimal resistance until you hit something that deflects the wheel, then it comes on hard. This is what will save you, and why I would only run the Scotts or the Fastway(same operation). If I'm riding in sand at medium to high speeds I'll crank up the low speed to 4 - 6 clicks out, but turn it back down when back in the woods.

I don't do much sand riding. |
Thanks. I have been riding my bike for the past 2 years without it and have honestly felt I did not need it like I did on my previous bikes. Just fitted it now for the high speed damping and have the ls at just about all the way out. HS is standard I think so may adjust that

On the '07 and prior I would activate the high speed "safety net" on a regular basis, which was not a big deal and the norm. On the '12 I have yet to notice, as it seems to have a lot more inherent stability, but I'm sure it will save me eventually.
The low speed comes in handy here during a run where they send you down a sand road with deep ruts from trucks. This just sucks without a damper as the bike is hard to manage and you have to stay on the gas and over the rear fender. The big knob makes for quick and easy on the fly adjustments. |
I run stockmsettings with low speed as low as it will go. I dont want to know its there until i hit something. I think that i would ride without a helmet before i would ride without a Scotts on my bike.

Mine is stiil set on the stock settings. I don't want to start changing until I get some more seat time with it, also the rides I was on with it never had the long hill climbs with big jagged rocks like most of the area's I ride. It did work great though and I felt way faster riding through the roots and over big log crossings. Never felt any arm pump or fatigue at all !!
