Never assume the obvious!!!

Hi all, terrible day working on the 2007 EC250 today.

I had read every post ref jetting and embarked on my first jetting adventure.
I swapped the idle jet first but it ran very badly so I tried another one which was worse so I tried another one the other way which was even worse so I replaced the original which was shocking. Decided to change the position of the needle and nothing worked...I tried them all. It was getting difficult to even start. The changed the needle and the main jet but still no luck.. this went on all day...
I decided to set fire to it.... but went for a cup of tea instead...

Went back out to the shed and put everything back the way it was before I started and no joy...not even a flicker.. I was stumped so decided to check the spark plug. Guess what? No spark...nothing... zilch... :(
I tried an old plug (I had lying around) and it gave a big fat spark. New plug ordered....

So that damned plug decided to die at the precise time I was embarking on my carb tuning.... Sod's law!

Looks like it was my own fault! I must have bent the top electrode wrestling the tank in and out...
Silly me...

New plug and she started first kick.... I shall try again tomorrow....!

good on ya for trying. just approach as simple as possible. just remember pilot for idle and just off idle, needle for mid and main for wide open. ride your bike as is to determine what you're not liking and where it is in the throttle position. make small tweaks one at a time

Do not waste your money on iridium plugs. They foul up way too easy on 2 strokes. A standard BR8ES plug will last for hundreds of hours on good jetting. I only change mine when I do a crankshaft. They never fail.

Yup! I can easily get 200+ hours on a standard BR8ES.

The old adage of 2 stroke tuning. 99% of carby problems are electrical and vice versa.
