i have a question on what shims i should remove/install. i have to run the comp all the way out. right now the comp valve is: 22x.1,22x.1,11x.2,22x.1,20x.1,16x.1,14x.1,11x.2,11 x.2 in the faster rock gardens it gets a little harsh feeling i use 5wt oil at 130mm .44kg springs i ride all tight single track.

Didn't we do that a few years back? Maybe too soft not too stiff. I'll bet it rides lower in the stroke than you think. I have the same fork, close valving, and a '12 with the new 48s. 48s are MUCH stiffer yet feel more controlled in the faster stuff.

yeah we did. you did a good job, but you never called to go riding! haha. i cant tell where it is really riding in the stroke except that you can tell it uses almost all its stroke when i ck after a few miles(dust or dirt on the tubes) it feels great on the knarly, slow shit. maybe i will try going the other way on the compression. by the way i have the rebound at 22clicks in.

Lately I've been racing more than riding. Anyway, its valved light for the local hell trails, up the speed and it uses up the travel and feels rough because its down in the stroke. Adding comp with the clicker won't help much, might just screw up the low speed ride. You could probably go even stiffer on the springs, .46s, but run the preload light, say 2 mm. Rebound 22 clicks in? Should be around 10 clicks out from full CW. Should have the same rebound valving as mine and mine works good.

After riding the 48m CC Zoke fork for awhile, there is no contest at higher speeds. You feel more, not plush, but nothing bad happens. The 45s are very plush and a good technical terrain fork, but just can't match the control of the new 48s. If our keeping that bike for awhile, put a set of KYB SSS 48s on it.

i recently did the moonshine enduro and the frontend was a little scarey. 95% of my riding is local single track that i made. i will try loosening the rebound to 10 clicks. thanks for your input

You have got to be kidding. I have two sets of these wretched forks, one sent to the highly recommended tuner on this board and the other to somebody else recommended. Extremely harsh and lousy launching off rock ledges and such but at least better than they were (anything would be better).

No I'm not kidding. Mine work OK at my level in the rocky trails here. I don't think they are any worse than any other open cartridge fork when set up correctly. Its when the speed picks up that they can't match a CC fork like the new 48mm Zokes or KYB SSS. Its a matter of opinion on what it truly "hash" and "plush". Honestly, for a true survival hell ride I'd choose my '07 over the '12 as its overall a more plush ride at lower speeds. The '12 is a better racer at higher speeds. At lower speeds you just feel a lot more but there is no deflection. I think I can fix that to a large extent now that I know the fork.
