cracked radiator / pipe?

Hi new here.

So I was out riding (fsr 450 07) and my skid plate hit a lump and my bike started blowing out smoke from the top front of bike. Near radiator.
When i got home the radiator was low on water so I topped it up and fired the bike up and let it get hot thinking steam would start coming out but it didn't. I can't see any cracks and nothing it leaking from anywhere.
Any ideas would It could of been?

Attached is poor quality pic of the amount of smoke coming out

Smoke or steam?

Steam sorry

Could it be the bike overheated and the overflow pipe discharged onto your hot exhaust or head?

Possibly, but it does seem unlikely it would happen perfectly in sync with the skid plate hitting the ground.

I suppose it was already hot with high pressure and the impact could have helped the radiator cap vent?

This!
I watched my buddy do the exact same thing this year on his Freeride. After some long hard climbing, he cased his bike on a rock and there was a massive steam cloud and liquid on the rock. He was convinced he damaged it badly somehow, but it was just a big burst release of pressure.

Make sure the bike is hot when checking for leaks.. so there's sufficient pressure built up in side the rad..id a pin hole leak before which caused boiling issues..
